Stop Today and See Sr. Lynore’s Slide Show
Sister Lynore and Lisa Theisen created a slide show of
photos for Sister Lynore’s 50th anniversary Jubilee
celebration. If you did not get a chance to see it or
would like to see it again, Sister Lynore will be in the
Community Room after Masses this weekend. Join us!
Peter’s Pence Collection June 25/26
Pope Francis calls us during this Year of Mercy to “…
open our eyes and see the misery of the world…and let
us recognize that we are compelled to heed their cry for
help!” Peter’s Pence is an annual collection uniting us
with the Holy See to provide the Holy Father with the
means to respond to suffering caused by war, natural
disaster and religious persecution. This year, we can
respond as witnesses of charity to the cries of our broth-
ers and sisters by giving as generously as we are able.
What Experiences Have Shaped Who You Are?
Rita Mailander will offer 4 conversational presenta-
tions: " The Examined Life; places, people and experi-
ences that have influenced and formed our identity."
Sessions will be each Wednesday morning, June 29-
July 20, at 9:00, in Room 252. Please join and share
your story.
Families Moving Forward Returns Aug. 28– Sept 4
Lumen Christi Parish will be hosting Families Moving
Forward again this summer the week of August
28th. We are honored to have the families as our guests
and we need your help making them feel welcome and
cared for. Please look for our sign up tables after
Masses July 9-10 and August 6 & 7. You may also
sign up online from a link at lumenchristicc.org.
Thank you for helping with this wonderful ministry in
our community.
Registration for First Eucharist and Confirmation
will be available on the parish website August 1.
Bible Study
Would you be interested in a small group Bible study
later this summer? We are forming groups that will
meet just three times and will use a new booklet from
Little Rock Scripture Study. It examines three Biblical
texts about trusting God. The sound scripture scholar-
ship provides the background for small group faith
sharing. Please contact Phyllis Hamill-Little in the
parish office for more information.
Save the Date for Movie Night August 9, at 7:00 pm in the Community Room we will
watch Inside Out together and share favorite insights
from this fun and family-friendly film.

Dear Parishioners and Highland Catholic School Supporters,
School year 2015-16 is one for the books! Highland Catholic School welcomed 47 new kindergartners and 34 transfer
students from Grades 1-8. A few blessing to share:
Preschool Network – The Highland Catholic Preschool was recognized as a leader in the Archdiocesan by the Catho-
lic Schools Center of Excellence. Our Preschool Director, Kassy Kenney, is now serving as a consultant to the newly
organized Preschool Network. The staff and programming are being recognized for their best practices and extraordi-
nary care of young people.
Facilities – Summer construction has already started in the second floor classrooms and lower level Room 1 and 2
with the installation of suspended ceilings and new LED lighting. Thanks to parishioner, Jon Kirkhoff, for helping us
with the fixtures. Stop in and see the upgrade!
Testing – This school year, Highland Catholic School made the move to the NWEA MAP tests for Grades 2-8 in
Mathematics, Reading and Language Arts. These online tests adjust for students’ abilities and will provide excellent
data for improving achievement.
Curriculum – The Curriculum Review Cycle this year was in the area of Mathematics. The Review Committee
worked to review Standards, best practices and textbook adoption. After eight years, we bid farewell to our fabulous
middle school math teacher, Mrs. Abby Mallory, who will be home with her two darling girls. Mrs. Mallory piloted a
flipped classroom model, which was successful with students and parents.
Graduates – Highland Catholic School launched 50 graduates onto the world of high school. Students are attending:
Hill-Murray (1), Totino-Grace (2), Cretin-Derham Hall (32), DeLaSalle (5), St. Thomas Academy (1), Minnehaha
Academy (1), St. Paul Academy (1), Highland Park Senior High (4), Sibley High School (1) and Eagan High School
(1). We are so proud of these remarkable students and wish them well.
High School Graduates – We love to look through the St. Paul Pioneer Press “Top Graduates” to find our former stu-
dents. Congratulations to Seniors: Maddie Kehoe, Emily Kinne, Henry Johnson, Tom Weiss, and Katherine Tennis for
your exceptional academic success. Congrats to parishioner, D.J. Corrigan, too.
New Organizational Structure – Highland Catholic School has benefitted from the new organizational structure at
Lumen Christi Catholic Community that allows all of the various councils to come together once a month for a meal,
general meeting and working session. I would like to thank our School Ministry Council Members for their leadership
this year and going forward. We are fortunate to have your expertise at the table.
Grants – It was a busy year with grant writing and Highland Catholic School was the recipient of three generous
grants: Schulze Family Preschool Grant, PeaceMaker Minnesota Grant and a Ramsey County Recycling Grant.
These funds will enhance our Preschool, Olweus SuperFriends Program and school-wide recycling.
Thanks for your continued support of our school program. I love coming to school everyday. What a blessing to be
part of this community.
