AFL BOYS U15 SWANS SHIELD: The boys were out classed in game one against Merewether High, but lifted for games two and three against Callaghan College Waratah Campus and Irrawang High to finish the day with two wins and one loss.

The boys played some good AFL for a team full of League and Soccer players. They all thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Mr Hagen Starrett AFL Coach FUTSAL UNDER 14’s GIRLS FUTSAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS: On Thursday 20 June the Under 14’s Girls Futsal team competed in the State Futsal Competition NNSW at Maitland Basketball Stadium. The girls from Years 7 and 8 all played with amazing skill and showed immense sportsmanship. We qualified second in our group with 1 win, 1 draw & 1 loss. We were then defeated in the Semi Final in a penalty shootout (which went through the entire team three times before there was a result) by St Pius X. Well done girls on an excellent effort.

Mr Michael Psarris, Girls Futsal Coach BOYS FUTSAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS: This year’s state Futsal titles were held in Maitland. We finished top of our pool defeating Toronto and Green Point High Schools. In the semi-final we played a red-hot St Edwards team who dominated the match with their quick counter attacks. RUGBY LEAGUE UNDER 13’s BOYS RUGBY LEAGUE HUNTER PREMIERSHIP: The Under 13 Wildcats travelled to Raymond Terrace to compete in the quarter finals for the Hunter Premiership. Their first and unfortunately only game for the night was against a competitive Dungog High School. A lot of simple errors and an unfocused preparation was taken onto to the field where the Wildcats were 8-0 down at half time. The second half did not start much better with Dungog running in for another try. Just when it seemed Dungog were going to run away with the game completely, the Wildcats finally clicked into gear. After having a lot of the ball for the final 10 minutes of the second half, the Wildcats finally went over to score a late try. It was all too late in the end, however in the final parts of the game they were able to show the quality team they are and have staff at CCWC excited for future rugby league competitions. Players player: Kaihem Hunt Coaches award: Blake Cruickshank and Lennox Nosworthy. Mr Joshua Corby, Boys Rugby League Coach UNDER U14’s & UNDER 15’s BOYS RUGBY LEAGUE HUNTER PREMIERSHIP: Congratulations to the Under 15’s Wallsend Wildcats Rugby League team who have progressed through to the Marc Glanville Hunter Premiership All Schools Grand Final. The team won a golden point thriller against Hunter River in the Quarter Final. Tyrese Gordon kicked a goal from the sideline after the fulltime siren to send the game into extra time. Wallsend progressed through to the semi-final with a golden try defeating Hunter River 22-18. The team then backed up that brilliant performance two hours later when they played a near perfect game against Rutherford High School. Dominating from the start, the team cruised to a well-deserved semi-final victory 36-4. A fantastic effort by all players involved. The team will now play St Joseph's Lochinvar in the Hunter Premiership Grand Final on Wednesday 24th July at McDonald Jones Stadium. Unfortunately, Wallsend Wildcats U13s & U14s were beaten in their respective Quarter Finals. Great to see three teams from Wallsend Campus involved in school boys finals action today. Thank you to Mr Corby, Mr Tyrie and Mr Johnson for their tireless efforts in developing and preparing the students involved. Mr Andrew Johnson, Boys Rugby League Coach U14S GIRLS RUGBY LEAGUE NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS FEMALE STATE PREMIERSHIP: Great effort from our Under 14’s Girls Rugby League team at the Newcastle Knights Female State Premiership. The girls won 2 games, had 1 draw and 1 loss in their pool. It came down to ‘for & against’ to see the girls unfortunately knocked out for a semi-final place. Congratulations girls on a fantastic day of Rugby League! Players player: Abby Skehan Ms Kirbi Masters, Girls Rugby League Coach

SOCCER GIRLS BILL TURNER CUP: Round 3 of the Girls Bill Turner saw CC Wallsend play a very strong Lambton High School team at Lake Macquarie Football Facility.

Missing our influential midfielder Montana Quick, our girls really stepped up taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st half. Two long range screamers from Newcastle Jets Emerging players saw Lambton edge out a 2-1 hard-fought victory.

Congratulations to both teams who played the game with high skill levels, great team work and excellent sportsmanship.

Sport Studies students from Years 8/9/10 ran the day as part of their Event Management Assessment. They performed duties such as coaching, scoring, refereeing and data management. The final was played between Plattsburg 4 and Glendore 3. The winners on the day were Glendore who won a tightly contested final.

Well done to all students involved for helping run a fun and exciting event.

VOLLEYBALL BOYS VOLLEYBALL: The week leading up to the gala day was very wet which meant we only had one training session. On the day the boys team fought hard in every game and were unlucky not to get through to the finals. They all enjoyed the day and represented CCWC well.

Players Player: Jye Burgess

Coaches award: Finn McEwen

Mr Hagen Starrett, Volleyball Coach GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: There was plenty of interest in the U17s Girls Volleyball Gala Day at Hunter Sports High, as we were able to enter two CCWC teams. Both teams played extremely well, and all enjoyed the day.
