It was built in the early part of the 20th century, rebuilt in 1948, and again repainted and serviced in 1968. With a 1,987 cubic-foot capacity, this car had an aluminum roof and could carry up to 1,600 lbs of crushed ice.

This 50’ standard box car with 8’ double sliding doors and no roofwalk and short ladders is reddish brown with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in November, 1957 for Canadian National and assigned to auto parts service. It was later re-assigned in 1965 to general service and had its specialized loading racks removed.

On November 1, 1980, Chessie System merged with Seaboard Coast Line Industries to form CSX Corporation. However, the Chessie image continued to be applied to new and re-painted equipment until mid-1986, when CSX introduced its own paint scheme. These cars will be painted yellow, with black lettering (re-patched), and will feature moderate to heavy ‘specific’ dirty and rusty weathering, and relectors.
