JUNE 2017
Commodores Report
Dear Fellow Members:
As I told everyone at the cocktail party, it seems our events continue to
get bigger and better. It proves our members care more about each other
and the fellowship we share than the actual location of events. I just
can't thank everyone enough times for stepping up or showing up when
we need your support. I think Opening Weekend showed a fully united
WYC along with our family at SIYC. It was a perfect mix from both
organizations.
For our members who may have missed Saturday Opening Day,
Commodore Craig Wilson from SIYC presented WYC a donation for
our building fund totaling $3,605 in honor of Miss Geraldine; a long-
time friend of WYC who passed away in December. We enjoyed a
celebration and memories of her time at WYC and SIYC. She will
always be the friendly face of SIYC for so many of us
forever. Please take time and stop by Solomon’s Yacht Club when
traveling across the bay. We are always welcome and they love to see
us.
THANKS TO ALL FROM SOLOMONS FOR EVERYTHING YOU
BRING TO OUR SPECIAL RELATHIONSHIP!
There were a lot of new things to try this weekend. The dunking
booth and shark proved to big hits with both children and
adults! Special Thanks to Peter and Donna for trying these new
ideas. Great job organizing Opening Day.
Thanks to our emcee Mr. Dick Carey for working on his birthday, all
the Past Commodores, our guest speaker County Executive Bob
Culver for making time for us, Craig Jahelka for the WBOC
coverage, our wonderful bartenders Becca, Mampy, and Maisy for
handling the crowds, Clay and K& R concessions for keeping
everyone in both food and drinks. Thank you to Tom Jones, John
"the pool guy", and Dean Murray for all your time at the compound;
ALL THE FIRST MATES big thanks for all you do...great job;
Dicky and Laura for all the help with our guests. And of course,
thanks to EVERYONE for coming out and enjoying our Opening
Day!!!
Don’t forget to check the upcoming events. See you all this weekend
at the club.
Your Commodore,
Mr. Ray

Vice Commodores Report
I echo the Commodore's comments about the fellowship that was
shared on Opening weekend. The sight of the thousands (in my mind)
of people enjoying themselves regardless of age gave me the proudest
feeling about our club. As said jokingly, who needs a building? People
were impressed, without a permanent structure, the positive attitude
WYC displayed. We need to now carry the momentum going forward.
Please try and plan on attending activities posted and we need to turn
our attention on generating interest for our Boat Docking event on July
30. Keep checking out the website and if you hear of any members not
getting the emails please let me know. Some members are changing
their email address and we need to know to make sure site is updated.
Thanks for your continued support!

Rear Commodores Report
Phew! Despite some iffy weather, we enjoyed a very successful
Opening Day/Weekend. Given our temporary facilities, we're still
learning how to provide you with reasonable venues to boat, swim,
eat, and enjoy delicious beverages with your club friends in as
comfortable conditions as possible. Thank God for our Dock Tales
tiki bar being there! I won't repeat what our Commodore and Vice
Commodore have already said about the great weekend with our
Solomon's friends, but I can't help but add my personal comment
on how well all Opening events, the Commodore's cocktail party on
Friday, the Opening Day Ceremonies on Saturday, the Poker Run on
Sunday, and our annual foray to Rumbley on Monday, went. Our
staff: Clay, Becca, Mampy, and Maisy are really coming together and
are rapidly learning how to deal with our temporary situation. We
hope that K & R Concessions will be with us right through the
summer. We will soon be going back to our
regular Wednesday, Friday - Sunday schedule. Keep tuned to our
website and emails for open times at the club.
Thanks for your continuing support, Rear Commodore Tom.
First Mates Report
Thank you to all members and guests for another banner Opening
Weekend. We sold oodles of new wearables, a pool full of ducks, and a
record breaking Poker Run! We had 23 boats, a bonus 6 card Poker
hand with a winning hand of four 9’s taking home $450!! Even the rain
and wind couldn’t stop this great day which was followed by music
under the tent by Front Page News. Every Poker Run depends on our
members that man the Poker stops, special thanks to Becky Miles and
her delicious Sangria, John & Diane Kencec with their peach and apple
pie, Don and Donna Richardson with their famous Jell-O Shots, Susan
and Mike Alford, with their yummy Jell-O shots and Rob and Danialle
Kenney with their tequila shots and party favors! Our 50/50 winner,
Suzanne Murray won $425 (again!!!).
The winner of the Annual Duck Races took home - 1st place $175 and
2nd place $100 and each pool participant enjoyed free passes to Crown
Laser Tag, needless to say we had a pool full of happy swimmers!
We were lucky enough to enjoy the company of Solomon’s Yacht Club
all weekend and I know they enjoyed ours as well. We look forward to
their return in September for our annual Crab Feast.
The First Mates are going to take a much needed break for the month of
June and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Wearables are always available,
just ask any server or First Mate, call, email or text me. We accept cash,
check or credit card. Our next event will be our Poker Run in
September.
