Good Bye

At the end of the school year we say a fond farewell to

Mrs Klinger as she retires after twenty happy years working at Bowmandale Primary School. We look for-

ward to welcoming her back into school in the years to come.

Sports Day

We were delighted that the weather was perfect for both our Sports Days! All the children participated eagerly and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We hope you enjoyed the event too!

KS1 Seaside Workshop

The children in Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful seaside work-shop on 24th May, learning all about the history of the seaside as well as taking part in lots of creative activi-ties. A particular highlight was a traditional Punch and Judy show, which gave them a behind the scenes sneak peek into how the puppets work.

Kwik Cricket Competition

On Friday 9th June nine children from Years 5 and 6 represented the school at North Lincolnshire Kwik Cricket final. The children were a credit to the school and tried hard in every game. The team came seventh.

Sun Cream and Hats

As the summer weather has hopefully arrived please may we ask that the children have sun cream on and bring a sun hat/cap to school.

Summer Fair

The Friends of Bowmandale are busy organising the annual Summer Fair. It will be on Sunday 9th July 1pm to 4pm. We hope you will be able to join us.

Art Week

With the help of Miss Picksley and Miss Grierson, Bowmandale held their first ever arts week (5th - 9th June). This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about national artists and artists within their locality throughout the week. Everybody did a splendid job and Bowmandale clearly have some budding future artists. Furthermore, we would like to thank everyone who made a contribution for their child’s artwork.

Governor Assembly

Three of our school governors, Mrs Vickers (Chair), Mrs Humphries and Mr Thompson, have led a whole school as-sembly this half term, explaining what it is like to be a school gov-ernor. Children from our school council were invited to ask them questions about life as a governor; our favourite question was 'If you were a superhero, what super powers would you have?'

Choir in Music Festival

Bowmandale Junior Choir took part in the 98th Scunthorpe Musical Festival at the Baths Hall on Thursday 25th June. They per-formed 'Hot Air Balloon' by Lin Marsh and 'You Are My Sunshine' by Jimmy Davis. Weeks of hard work paid off during the perfor-mance because the adjudicator commended the children for their 'artistic appreciation and technical ability'. He also called their chorus 'jolly and confident'.

Yr3 and Yr4 Visit to York

Year 3 and 4 ventured out on 7th June to The National Railway Museum in York. They had an amazing time exploring some of the famous trains they had researched in the class-rooms. This experience really brought their history work to life!

Choral Speaking House Event

The whole school participated in our annual House Choral Speaking Competition on 6th June. Through-out the last half term, each house team had great fun rehearsing their chosen poem ready for the per-formance. All poems were performed beautifully, complete with actions, and Foundation Stage were a wonderful audience! The performed poems included: 'The Ning Nang Nong', 'Gran Can you Rap?', 'The Reader of this Poem', 'The Dog Ate my Homework' and 'I'm Late for School'.

All of the children then voted for their favourite poems back in their house teams. We are delighted to share that Hum-ber House team were the win-ners of this year's House Choral Speaking Trophy, with their performance of the poem, 'Gran Can you Rap?'. We even had our own resident 'gran', per-formed by Callum Day in Year 5! A huge well done to all of the house teams who worked so hard to pre-pare for the day.
