Welcome to this edition of the Tradewinds Newsletter Thank you for all the wonderful

membership renewals in May We started the month with about 30 un-renewed and

brought it down to 12 Wersquore still closing the gap but itrsquos great to see that number come

down so dramatically in one month

May was National Older Americans Month and I attended a few events that updated peo-

ple in the industry about current issues Itrsquos alarming how rampant fraud is The FBI says

Senior Citizens especially should be aware of fraud schemes for the following reasons

Senior citizens are most likely to have a ldquonest eggrdquo to own their home andor to

have excellent creditmdashall of which make them attractive to con artists

People who grew up in the 1930s 1940s and 1950s were generally raised to be

polite and trusting Con artists exploit these traits knowing that it is difficult or

impossible for these individuals to say ldquonordquo or just hang up the telephone

Older Americans are less likely to report a fraud because they donrsquot know who to

report it to are too ashamed at having been scammed or donrsquot know they have

been scammed Elderly victims may not report crimes for example because they

are concerned that relatives may think the victims no longer have the mental ca-

pacity to take care of their own financial affairs

When an elderly victim does report the crime they often make poor witnesses

Con artists know the effects of age on memory and they are counting on elderly

victims not being able to supply enough detailed information to investigators In

addition the victimsrsquo realization that they have been swindled may take weeksmdash

or more likely monthsmdashafter contact with the fraudster This extended time

frame makes it even more difficult to remember details from the events

Senior citizens are more interested in and susceptible to products promising in-

creased cognitive function virility physical conditioning anti-cancer properties

and so on In a country where new cures and vaccinations for old diseases have

given every American hope for a long and fruitful life it is not so unbelievable

that the con artistsrsquo products can do what they claim

It makes me sick to think about you being targeted by these con-artists One of the best

These Meals are made primarily from scratch Fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables are served to ensure that we influence good eating habits and provide the best nutrition possible The only canned fruits and vegetables used are pineapple mandarin oranges and tomato sauce The breads and pastas are whole grain and the rice we use is brown We are dedicated to providing healthy and good tasting foods to our clients We have quarterly menu conferences at which we take comments from our clients and use them to make improvements to the seasonal cycles If you have any input comments compliments or suggestions please give them to your staff contact so that they can bring the information to us at the next menu conference Thank you Enjoy

1 onion 1 large onion chopped

1 small green bell pepper chopped 3 (16oz) cans vegetarian chili not drained

2 garlic cloves minced 2 (11oz) cans Mexicorn not drained

2 (16 oz) cans chili beans (Bush) 1 (15oz) can tomato sauce

2 (145 oz) cans diced tomatoes 1 (45oz) chopped green chilies

1 tablespon chili powder 1 Pkg chili seasoning

1 teaspoon salt 1 Pkg Ranch dressing mix

1 teaspoon pepper 1 (15oz) can chopped tomatoes

1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 green pepper chopped

1 red pepper chopped

PREPARATION PREPARATION

Cook first 4 ingredients in a large skillet over medium - Brown meat with onion green and red pepper in large pot (4qt capacity)

High heat stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer Add chili mix Ranch mix simmer 15 minutes Add remaining

Pink drain Place mixture in 5-quart slow cooker ingredients Simmer 15 minutes moremdashEnjoy

Stir in beans and remaining ingredients Cook at HIGH

2 garlic cloves minced 2 (11oz) cans Mexicorn not drained

2 (16 oz) cans chili beans (Bush) 1 (15oz) can tomato sauce

2 (145 oz) cans diced tomatoes 1 (45oz) chopped green chilies

1 tablespon chili powder 1 Pkg chili seasoning

1 teaspoon salt 1 Pkg Ranch dressing mix

1 teaspoon pepper 1 (15oz) can chopped tomatoes

1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 green pepper chopped

1 red pepper chopped

PREPARATION PREPARATION

Cook first 4 ingredients in a large skillet over medium - Brown meat with onion green and red pepper in large pot (4qt capacity)

These Meals are made primarily from scratch Fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables are served to ensure that we influence good eating habits and provide the best nutrition possible The only canned fruits and vegetables used are pineapple mandarin oranges and tomato sauce The breads and pastas are whole grain and the rice we use is brown We are dedicated to providing healthy and good tasting foods to our clients We have quarterly menu conferences at which we take comments from our clients and use them to make improvements to the seasonal cycles If you have any input comments compliments or suggestions please give them to your staff contact so that they can bring the information to us at the next menu conference Thank you Enjoy

2 garlic cloves minced 2 (11oz) cans Mexicorn not drained

2 (16 oz) cans chili beans (Bush) 1 (15oz) can tomato sauce

2 (145 oz) cans diced tomatoes 1 (45oz) chopped green chilies

1 tablespon chili powder 1 Pkg chili seasoning

1 teaspoon salt 1 Pkg Ranch dressing mix

1 teaspoon pepper 1 (15oz) can chopped tomatoes

1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 green pepper chopped

1 red pepper chopped

PREPARATION PREPARATION

Cook first 4 ingredients in a large skillet over medium - Brown meat with onion green and red pepper in large pot (4qt capacity)

15 lbs lean ground beef 1 lb ground beef 85

1 onion 1 large onion chopped

1 small green bell pepper chopped 3 (16oz) cans vegetarian chili not drained

2 garlic cloves minced 2 (11oz) cans Mexicorn not drained

2 (16 oz) cans chili beans (Bush) 1 (15oz) can tomato sauce

2 (145 oz) cans diced tomatoes 1 (45oz) chopped green chilies

1 tablespon chili powder 1 Pkg chili seasoning

1 teaspoon salt 1 Pkg Ranch dressing mix

1 teaspoon pepper 1 (15oz) can chopped tomatoes

1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 green pepper chopped

1 red pepper chopped

PREPARATION PREPARATION

Cook first 4 ingredients in a large skillet over medium - Brown meat with onion green and red pepper in large pot (4qt capacity)

High heat stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer Add chili mix Ranch mix simmer 15 minutes Add remaining

Pink drain Place mixture in 5-quart slow cooker ingredients Simmer 15 minutes moremdashEnjoy

Stir in beans and remaining ingredients Cook at HIGH

3 to 4 hours or at LOW 5 to 6 hours
