Happy June to everybody!! Cruise ins are in full steam, and wasn’t it great to see Merle and
Sharon there the last few weeks; and who would have guessed Sharon would be chosen the first
vehicle of the week to be showcased. God wanted that ticket to be drawn that day and I am so
happy that it was. Merle and Sharon looked great, and oh yea, so did the car.
Our President, Don McGinnis continues to recover from his recent knee surgery and is doing well.
He has had a few minor issues, but has been to the car shows, cruise ins and meetings. WAY to
go Don, we love you!!!!
After all that we have been through the last few months, it has been great see the excitement, the
wonderful smiles and fellowship at the cruise ins that were held at Fountain Plaza. I certainly
appreciated the understanding and cooperation in having to move, but it would have been pretty
tough parking at the mall, that Ferris wheel took up some space. Let’s keep this excitement and
spirit going throughout the cruise ins for the rest of the year.
Now to fun runs,
we have had some
amazing trips so
far, Victory
Junction, race
shops, museums,
Cades Cove, if you
were not able to
attend any of these,
you missed a great
time. The rain
held off long
enough at Cades Cove for us to get in a picnic, when food was
aplenty. The sights and sounds of the Cove are amazing as well as very beautiful and so, so
peaceful. Didn’t get to see any bears, but the wild turkeys made an appearance, no I am not
talking about Butch, Elmer or Albert!!! HAHAHAHAHA. Sorry I could not resist. WE have
plenty more in store for the year, hope to see you at one of our events. By the time you read this,
we will have had an annual picnic at the home of
Don McGinnis, I will report on that next month. I
will do my best to keep everyone informed of our
events, will place what I can in newsletter ahead of
time.
One last thing, I want to wish ALL of our club’s
June babies, a very happy, happy birthday,
especially my hubby, Butch. Love ya!!!
Much love to all!! Lisa

President’s Letter—June 2015 by Don McGinnis
Summertime is here, its June already time for the June bugs to be flying.
Our Cruising season is in high gear. We had to move our location the last
two weeks in May; however we still had a good turnout. I saw some new
rides that I had not seen before. I would like to thank Dr. Grimaldi and the
folks at Fountain Plaza for letting us use their parking lot. We are back at
the Mall until Oct. from 6:00 in the evening until 9:00 PM each Sat. night.
There are a number of great car shows coming up this summer, make sure
you check the Ready Set Go section in your newsletter for the time and
place. Lisa does a great job of keeping us informed.
Would like to welcome the new members that joined our club this spring,
let’s make them feel like part of our large family. It makes me proud to
know that I am a member of the Hamblen Co. Car Club, We have become a
leader in our community, most merchants and companies are willing to help
sponsor our events, because they know we help provide services to our local
charities like the Toys for Tots- Angle Tree program, Alps, Food on Foot
and many others.
As I mentioned last month, June is our election month. I want to apologize
to everyone for the last 4 months. With the death of my wife, taking care of
my sister, and having a knee replacement I have not been able to give 100
% to the club. Thanks to our other officers and some dedicated members all
projects and events have gone smoothly. We sure do have some good loyal
members that are not afraid to step up and help at any given time. I want to
thank everyone for your prayers and support.
I want to encourage everyone to attend the meeting this month, get in-
volved, working together we can keep our club strong and respected in our
community.
Monthly Meeting Every 3rd Thursday at Shoney’s.

Minutes— May 2015 - Deedra Hall
The Hamblen County Car Club met on May 21st at Shoney’s with 37 members and guest present. President Don McGinnis called the meeting to order, with Gene Honeycutt offering the opening prayer.
Leroy and Jane Self showed the Victory Junction video to the group. New member, Pete Balzano spoke to the group about Victory Junction as his daughter, Brooklyn Jade has been and is scheduled to go back in August, this time alone, as before she had spent the weekend with her family.
Motion to accept the minutes as published in the newsletter of the last meeting was made by Ted Kalagian, with Gene Honeycutt seconding the motion. Minutes were accepted.
Jerry Kloos read the treasurer’s report, motion to accept the report was made by Gene Honeycutt with Terry Kloos seconding, report was accepted as read.
Gene Honeycutt reported that WCRK will be announcing information on the community calendar about the mov-ing of the cruise in for the next two weeks to Fountain Plaza. He also receied a phone call from Douglas Chero-kee about a veteran who had been a victim of a fire. He was short on the deposit to get the electricity turned on. Robert Russell made motion to pay the $280 that was needed. Ted Kalagian seconded. Motion was approved by the club.
Butch Grooms gave the cruise in report, we still have a few dates open to host the trailer.
Theresa Blanken gave the fun run update, past and future. Several members went on the Victory Junction trip in April and to Cades Cove in May. Our next event is our annual picnic on June 7th beginning at 1pm at the home of Don McGinnis. Club will furnish burgers and hot dogs. See Theresa for list of items to bring.
Butch gave an update on the Jr Club, they have had their last meeting for the school year. Butch reported that he is going to schedule a meeting with Dr. Lynch to see what can be done about getting more publicity for the club through the school. The club made around $500 on their show, and the winner of the engine donated another $100 to the club.
Butch also reported on monies that have been donated for the Dwayne Porterfield Memorial Angel Tree Fund.
Albert Combs and Brian Wruck reported on the website, still working on updates.
Jerry Kloos gave the latest report on the 2016 WAE. We still need one more corporate sponsor, also reported on cost for vendors, swap meet vendors and registration. We have several supporters at this time. Diane Sawyer is putting together promotional books to use in asking for support. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 23rd at 2pm at Shoney’s, anyone interested in helping is encouraged to attend.
New Business: Robert Russell reported on the ALPS walk that is to be held on July 25th, they will need a car for the grand marshal. Jerry Kloos made motion to help with the ALPS wish list up to $500 and also do the same for Food on Foot. Dan Galacek seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Butch Grooms brought up the idea that had been discussed on our NC trip to sponsor a Senior Angel Tree project. We will use the money from the vehicle of the week and other sources. Marie Yount will head up this project. It was decided that we did not need to have a motion or vote.
Regency Retirement will have a blue grass/hot air balloon festival on June 16th; they would like to have some cars on display.
Reminder: Club elections are to be held at the June meeting.
Elmer Blanken won the free meal.
Gene Honeycutt made motion to adjourn with Jerry Kloos seconding, meeting was adjourned.

Greetings HCCC!
Are we cruz n yet? I know that we have had some great Fun Runs, picnics, shows and cruzin’s and
this is only the beginning. Check our schedule for more!!
Plans are under way for the Winter Angel Expo in 2016. Next scheduled meeting is June 23rd at
Shoney’s starting at 2 pm. Anyone is encouraged and welcomed to attend. There are several com-
mittees working and all need help. Our website-scrapbook, photographers and historians will be meeting at this time also.
We will be attending a meeting on June 16th with the Jeff County Fair people to plan our part in parking vehicles for the fair in August, should be a sign up list available soon.
Also, there is a cruise in being planned to honor the 50 years of business for HCCC member David King on July 18th, watch for flyers to attend this event to share this with one of our own club form-
ing members.
Marie Yount ,Diane Sawyer, and Deedra Hall have started our Senior Angel Tree to give gift bags to
seniors in nursing homes at Christmas. Our “Vehicle of the Week” monies will fund this endeavor.
They need members to assist in selling tickets for this and a 50/50 and car show is in the thought process as well. Help these ladies in providing yet another charitable program for HCCC.
Remember, elections are in the works at our June meeting. Please attend to make your voice heard
in the leadership of this club. This is one election that your vote counts! Don’t think Hillary is
running in this one!
Allow me to take this time to tell the HCCC; THANKS! for allowing me to be Vice President for the
last four years. It has been a privilege to have this office. Thanks to all that has helped and put up with me! You are special people and have love in your heart for HCCC. That is what it is all about.
Thanks Again! For all your trust, love, help, faith and hard work. Just keep up the same with our
next one.
Really want to let Don know how great a president he has been. We’ve come a long way in attain-
ing our goals under his leadership. He has given us two great years in this position. He is all about the HCCC.
All of our officers, secretary, committee heads, and members have been a joy and pleasure to work with. Hard to find a better group to work with and it’s all volunteer!
Remember all our families, friends and members that are sick, hurting, grieving and stressed in your
thoughts and prayers.
Maintain a great cruz n season!
