“You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. Whenwe all help one another, everybody wins.”

The above lines are quite appropriate to describe the ‘what’, ‘why’ and ‘where’of CIMBAG.

The members of CIMBAG are crystallizing into a fraternity and the resultof encouragement to each other is just amazing.

Staying well-informed about our friends, what they have been doing, wherehave they reached in life, and then applauding their efforts and achievementsis a pleasure in itself. To be able to recognize their efforts, and show themas an example is to motivate them and tell them that –

‘Look you too can do this for you are no different from what he is’ andencourage them to chase their dreams to the extent that our dreams alsoembrace us with open arms and say ‘Here I am, embrace me, here I am foryour asking!

We are delighted to see alumni sharing with us their views about CIMBAG,its events, and about the newsletter, through the Feedback column. We arealso happy to see how the bonds of friendship are strengthening and a senseof belongingness to this fraternity has been blossoming.

We hope this trend continues forever. While we keep encouraging you to dobetter and better, you encourage us with your lovely mails that act as fuelfor our work in giving you the best of services.

We look forward to see you at alumni events and also to stay in touchthrough mails. Wish you all good luck and success in every endeavor.

Tell us something aboutyourself and your family.Though I belong to Chennai, I wasborn in Mumbai and brought up inDelhi. I have graduated in Commercefrom Delhi University and thenpursued a number of Certificate andDiploma courses from the IndianInstitute of Banking and Finance. Ijoined Reserve Bank of India in theyear 1986 and have served in fivedifferent offices, in variousDepartments. Presently, I am postedat Hyderabad. I completed my MBAfrom the ICFAI University in theyear 2007. My husband is a CostAccountant and is working as aFinancial Analyst for Central Bankof India and I have two sons aged20 & 16 years respectively.

What have been yourgreatest accomplishments?I would say that my majorachievement has been “Learningwhile Earning”. At the age of 18 Iwas recruited by Escorts Limitedand I joined Reserve Bank of Indiaat 20. Throughout my career it hasbeen my constant endeavor to keepmy learning curve on the rise andto make sure that I growacademically. I take pride in the factthat I could achieve this withoutcompromising on my domestic andofficial responsibilities. In thisregard, I must thank myorganization, Reserve Bank of India, for encouraging and renderingcomplete support.

What is success accordingto you?The meaning of success is verysubjective. To me, success is to betrue to every task you undertakeand to put in your 100% effort forit. I believe that true success liesnot only in the achievement of thegoal but also in the sincere effortsone has put in towards it.

Can you share with us yourmantra for success? My mantra for success has been“meticulous planning”. I havealways clearly planned andprioritized both, the personal andprofessional aspects of my life. Ihave then worked sincerely anddiligently towards achieving mytargets.

How do you balance workand family life?I have always given equalimportance to both these aspects inmy life. But yes, I would agree, atdifferent stages of life may be mypriorities would have slightlydiffered. When my children wereyoung, I had to devote more timeon domestic chores and family lifebut as we proceeded in life, circumstances changed and the task

of balancing became easier and lessstrenuous. But I must admit thatmy husband and family havealways extended complete support, making the balance effortless.

What are your hobbies andleisure pursuits?I am passionate about singing, cooking and reading. I enjoyspending most of my leisure timeparticipating in social activities suchas conducting Bal Vikas, attendingBhajans and also engaging myselfin women welfare activities.

How has the MBA qualific-ation helped in enhancingyour career? The ICFAI University MBA programhas helped me in building up mymanagement and leadership skills. The MBA program has also servedme with an in-depth understandingof certain basic concepts andtechniques which facilitated myworking, especially during mytenure in the Foreign ExchangeDepartment as I had to handle alarge corporate clientele involved inInternational trade and business.

What would be your adviceto young career aspirants? My advice to young career aspirantswould be to clearly set their targetsand goals and then work earnestlyin the direction of realizing them.Always stay focused and don’twaiver in your resolve. The mostimportant aspect is to achieve allthis while maintaining a highethical and moral demeanor.

Share an unforgettableexperience with us.Just at the spur of the moment, Iwas asked to be part of a singinggroup which had to perform aconcert in the divine presence ofSri Sathya Sai Baba at Puttaparthi. It was a truly unforgettableexperience, which I will cherishthroughout my life.

w Tell us something aboutyourself and your family.I am working as a R&D GroupHead in Nokia Siemens Networks,Bangalore. My wife, Ashwini is aChild Psychologist and works withdifferent schools in Bangalore.Son, Shubhankar is studying in 6th

standard and daughter Mukta isin 1st standard. My father is ourphilosopher and a guide; he was aprofessor of History. My motheris the strength behind our happyfamily.

What have been your greatestaccomplishments?I feel the greatest one is yet to come.A few accomplishments I cherishare being a University topper inengineering. Though it wasexpected, but it was still a greataccomplishment which I stillcherish. My second greataccomplishment is my firstindustrial design to be put intoproduction – A fixture for honingmachine in Larsen and Tubro.Another achievement is aboutgetting an opportunity to start aCBSE school and being a part of adedicated social change agentsgroup who have devoted their livesfor the joy of others.

What is success according toyou?Success is like a mirage; livinglife happily every moment is thetruth! If we are able to lead ahappy life then we are successful. There is no single destinationcalled success, it is a journey, weshould enjoy every moment onthe way as it is the last moment.Success is relative, it depends onwhat context it is beingmeasured.

Can you share with us yourmantra for success?Have a dream of your own, believe you can do it, create long-term plans to realize your dream,

do not get distractedby short termfailures.

How do youbalance work andfamily?Prioritization – dofirst things first.

This is difficult topractice; it involveseveryone in thefamily with differentneeds and priorities. We have to managemultiple prioritiesand find the rightbalance. There is nogolden rule whichapplies to all. It alldepends on youraspirations, people inyour family and theiraspirations.

What are yourhobbies andleisure pursuits?A purposeful reading, research on our cultural richnessand its relevance to living in a globalvillage, playing Tennis, sitting quietnear a mountain stream andwatching the birds and trying tounderstand the vastness of thecosmos.

How has the MBAqualification helped you inenhancing your career?MBA gave me a broader perspectiveand a business sense. Thisindirectly helps in every job I do.People give you respect if you havequalifications and of course it addsa lot of value to your profile.

What would be your advice toyoung career aspirants?Be humble and honest. Learneveryday; do not be in a hurry toreach the pinnacle. There isnothing like the ‘best job’ in theworld. Listen to your heart, if you

find a job which you enjoy the mostthen you must know that it is bestjob for you!!

Read my success mantra again.

Share an unforgettableexperience with us.There are quite many things toshare, but this one is very touchy!

Two years back, one fine eveningI got a call from CIMBAG -Alumni relations officer invitingme for the first CIMBAG Chaptermeeting. By that time I hadforgotten that I was an MBA! Itwas really pleasant to connectwith the ICFAI Universitythrough the alumni associationin this manner.

Ever since then we are having agreat time at CIMBAG BangaloreChapter! Thanks for taking thisinitiative.

I congratulate the CIMBAG TIMESeditorial team for putting in thislevel of effort to come up with itsquarterly issues. After havingcompleted my MBA in November2010, this is the first time I havereceived a copy of the newsletter inFebruary. I found this magazine to bethe right platform for the alumni toexchange their ideas and experiences, knowledge and provide a strong basefor networking. Be it any event or anyother activity, CIMBAG TIMES hascovered it well. Here, a specialmention needs to be made about itscoverage on a workshop “EffectiveNon-Verbal Communication”, whichI found to be extremely helpful andinteresting.

At the same time I would like it evenmore if the newsletter can includecoverage on alumni placement celland on various job opportunities. Iwould thank CIMBAG TIMES teamfor this effort to keep us connected.

Archi Dutt, MBA, Kolkata

CIMBAG TIMES is a good way ofconnecting with the alumni and theirsuccess stories. Some really goodpointers about making one’s careerand learning from other’s mistakes isone good way of defining your ownpath and plan your career moves.CIMBAG TIMES provides thisopportunity to all new and oldmembers of CIMBAG. A suggestionfrom me would be to introduce acolumn on ‘Expert Talk’ by amanagement guru or an expert or asuccessful business leader, a prodigy, sportsperson etc., coming fromdifferent spheres and walks of life;they can surely give some good advice.

Vishal Sharma, MBA, New Delhi

This was the first time I received acopy of my own. I thoroughly enjoyedreading CIMBAG TIMES. I found allthe contents quite interesting. I foundthe interview of Mrs. Kaya Tripathi(February issue) quite motivating. Itis really nice to see the glimpses ofalumni get-together; especially the

pictures of alumni picnic at Borivali NationalPark, Mumbai.

Over all, I found the magazine interesting and Ieagerly look forward to receiving the next issue.

Razina Banerjee, MBA, Kolkata

CIMBAG TIMES was a great initiative in thefirst place and it has progressed putting extraweightage by its valuable sections andpictures. It feels nice to see CIMBAG Chaptersacross the country enjoying so much and in ahealthy competition with the other. We shouldleverage on this opportunity and maximize ourpotential by growing along with CIMBAG.

The job openings posted are useful to us. The‘Happy Moments’ and ‘Career Moves’ sectionsare also informative. May be we shouldcirculate this magazine to the final semesterstudents who will feel the pulse of CIMBAG.

Priyankush Ghosh, MBA, Kolkata

As a member of CIMBAG, we get informationand news about Chapters through the quarterlynewsletter, “CIMBAG TIMES”.

I request the editorial team to lay emphasis oncareer section, where members can interact withothers for career guidance. A question and answerssection or a career forum can be included.

Bhatt Sushrut Pankajbhai, MBA, Ahmedabad

I have been receiving CIMBAG TIMES since thelast few months. I find it very informative as itconnects me to the alumni.

Seeing our picnic photographs on the cover pageof the magazine (February issue) was a pleasantsurprise. I fondly remembered how we all gotcharged up after we spent the wonderful Sundaytogether. I shared the magazine with mycolleagues and with some friends who arecurrently pursuing MBA from the ICFAIUniversity.

I appreciate the efforts in bringing out the issueand the wonderful events being organized byvarious Chapters. I am looking forward to readmany more issues of the CIMBAG TIMES inthe future.

Manjula Prabhu, MBA, Mumbai

I received the February issue of CIMBAGTIMES and made an observation of all theseminar topics. What I feel is that, we aresomehow overlooking the important issues of‘Business Ethics’. Due to this negligence we see

a lot of discrimination and biaseddecisions that take place in almost allspheres of organizational activities. Inother words, those who make the rulesare not following them and are ratherengaged in breaking them.

I hope, CIMBAG TIMES will raisetheir voice against this hot issuethrough organizing seminars andexpert talks in the near future.

I wish success to CIMBAG TIMES.

Mohanan K V, MBA, Raigad

The previous issue of CIMBAG TIMESwas good and the picnic photos werenice. Only after seeing the photos, Irealized that I should have been thereand missed the alumni picnic inMumbai.

My best wishes to all those marriedcouples, who were featured in themagazine. Thanks a lot, keep usinformed about the alumni activitiesmuch in advance so that we canparticipate in good numbers.

Neeta H Sonawani, MBA, Mumbai

Please publish more letters from themembers of CIMBAG community in‘Reflections’. This is my favouritecolumn. Also please think of invitingsenior members who are leaders intheir respective areas to activelycontribute as Speakers in the seminarso that many young alumni couldbenefit from such sessions.

Arvind Kamath, MBA, Bangalore

CIMBAG TIMES is a very goodinitiative. It gives us a chance to knowindividuals, who passed out of theICFAI University and the careerschosen by each one of them. Throughthis magazine we are able to connectto some of our old colleagues andfriends, whom we have not met for avery long time. Through CIMBAGTIMES I was able to connect to one ofmy old friends in Mumbai (theCIMBAG TIMES cover photo featuredhim in the last issue).

Size of the magazine is reasonable asit does not take more than 30 minutes

to go through the full issue. Thequality of the paper and design is verypleasing. I would have liked to see asection on career counseling by someof the noted personalities and sometips on building careers after MBA.

Thank you CIMBAG for all your effortstowards helping us network with ourfellow alumni.

Mandar R Rai, MBA, Hyderabad

I went through the magazine andenjoyed reading it. It is a good way ofknowing the ICFAI University alumni.I would suggest that you include asection on ‘book reviews’ in themagazine.

George James, MBA, New Delhi

Each edition of CIMBAG TIMESprovides quick snap shots of importantevents at different Chapters acrossIndia, career progressions of our fellowalumni, their career goals etc. Onesection that I enjoy the most is ‘AlumniInterviews’ in which they project theirindividual learning experiences, which
