I want to thank everyone for all your prayers, cards,

calls & visits during my recent illness. You don’t

realize how dear & how much your church family

means to you until you have something so

unexpected to happen in your life.

    God Bless, Mel Davis

    To my Memorial Church Family;

It is with great appreciation and gratitude that I

thank the members of Memorial for your prayers,

cards, and calls I received after my injury. I am not

used to being sidelined this way. Knowing I have a

church family who cares for me has helped make this

recovery period easier to handle. I feel your love and

prayers everyday as I continue to heal.

Thank you In the Love of Christ, Debbie Eudy

For those who are sick or in need of healing... It will not be too long and the chill in the air may

become really cold and far too many of Charlotte's

homeless 'neighbors' will still be searching for a

warm place to spend their nights. That's when your

willingness to be part of the RITI Ministry can, and

will, surely bless some of the neediest among us.

Sign-up sheets for this season, Dec. - Mar., are now

posted on the RITI board next to the Assoc.

Pastor's office. Where will your name be this season?

Once again Memorial will partner with Cokesbury

UMC and serve as hosts on the 3rd

    weekend of each

month, Dec. - Mar. Our first weekend is Dec. 19-20.

Orientation session schedules will be posted when

announced by Urban Ministries Center. If you have any

questions, please contact Wilson Edmunds @

    [email protected] or 704-882-8708.

Remember, Homelessness is not somebody else's

    problem.

For those who sorrow... The family of Tang Rocom. For all of our shut-ins & families living in stressful times.

“from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their plea, and uphold

their cause.” 1 Kings 8:49 (NIV)

  • Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Here’s a little prayer reminder for those who are faithful prayer warriors. God does hear and respond to them all.

    Just a tiny little child

Three years old, And a mother with a heart

All of gold. Often did that mother say,

Jesus hears us when we pray, For He's never far away And He always answers. Now, that tiny little child

Had brown eyes, And she wanted blue instead

Like blue skies. For her mother's eyes were blue Like forget-me-nots. She knew All her mother said was true,

Jesus always answered. So she prayed for two blue eyes,

Said "Good night," Went to sleep in deep content

And delight. Woke up early, climbed a chair By a mirror. Where, O where

Could the blue eyes be? Not there; Jesus hadn't answered.

Hadn't answered her at all; Never more

Could she pray; her eyes were brown As before.

    Did a little soft wind blow? Came a whisper soft and low, "Jesus answered. He said, No;

    Isn't No an answer?"

    By: Amy Carmichael

Pray without ceasing. Pray even when you don’t feel like it. Pray when you’re happy. Pray when you’re sad. Pray for those you love. Pray for those you hate. Pray in thanksgiving when God answers “Yes.” Pray in thanksgiving for God’s wisdom when God says “No.” Pray for Memorial UMC. Pray for your family. Pray for all people - for they are all God’s children. God be with you until we meet again,

    Pastor Don

    UMW – Upcoming Events

UMW Executive Committee will meet Sunday, October 25th following worship service in the parlor.

Follow Up: At the 42nd annual meeting of the

Western N.C. Conference of United Methodist

Women at Lake Junaluska, the most exciting

news was - for the 14th consecutive year, WNCC

UMW was #1 in the NATION in Mission Giving.

Mission Giving sent to UMW National Office for

2014 was $721,323.54. Our generous giving of

monetary gifts to relieve suffering and improve

the quality of life for women, children and

youth help in ways that are hard for us to

imagine. Many of the projects Mission Giving

supports include the building and sustaining of

schools, clinics, day care facilities, and

hospitals that will operate well beyond our

lifetimes, providing the much needed services in

areas around the world. Thanks to Memorial

    for supporting our projects!

Blankets For Recovery: We received a gift of three blankets from another group so will add them to the 33 we already have. We will take them to homeless vets who are patients at the William G. Hefner Veteran's Hospital in Salisbury in October. Any blanket maker or veteran church member is welcome to come. Stay tuned for more details on the date. Prayer Cloths are available from Pastor Don or E.J. Anyone wishing to help sew them together should see E.J. for more information. A few other volunteers have made a huge number but not three thousand as reported previously. Recipients are very touched and grateful for our outreach efforts to them.
