Aditi’s message on Father’s Day

Actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Dalip Tahil will be seen in a short film titled Kany-adaan, which focuses on domestic vio-lence and father-daughter relationships.

The short film will go live on video entertainment app #fame’s YouTube channel on Father’s Day, Sunday, read a statement.

The video ends with a social message — fathers should teach their daughters to fight against marital abuse and give them the option to come back home if the marriage doesn’t work out.

The film starts with a bride getting ready for her big day. A traditional Indian wedding track plays in the background. At first, the bride knots her lehnga and twirls gracefully.

Hydari’s face. She smiles and puts on her jewellery. As she reaches out to the final bangle, the camera pans to show airline tickets for two.

She gets a message on her phone, which rests on a newspaper. She looks at the message on the homescreen. It says: “Dear wife-to-be, can’t wait to see you! Love, hubby-to-be.”

She reads the message and smiles, but her smile fades away when she looks at the newspaper headline “New Cases Of Domestic Abuse Shake India”.

She becomes sad and sits down, lets out a deep breath. Right then a hand rests on her shoulder, she looks up, it’s her dad.

The father smiles, bends down, whispers something into her ears. As he speaks, one sees her expression change from that of nervousness to childlike happiness.

Singer Simanta Shekhar took a dig at fellow singer Mika Singh and called into question his title of King of Indipop. “There is no doubt about Mika’s popularity. Even I like his songs, but I don’t like his voice and his tone. Mika thinks he is the King of Indipop, but that is not true. Even folk songs can be considered Indipop. Just singing any random part written by someone doesn’t make anyone the King of Indipop,” he said.

Shekhar’s recent roman-tic-rock track Gaanja Liya was well received by audi-ences. He has now created a folk fusion version of Bappi Lahiri’s ‘80s hit Jilele Jilele.

He added: “I listen to songs of all the singers of Bollywood. I listen to and appreciate the singing of Arijit Singh, Ankit Tiwari and several other singers from the industry. The good thing about them is all of them are unique in their own style and no one blindly copies anyone.” —IANS
