College-Wide Activity

I. INAUGURATION OF THE BASC CLONAL FACILITY The BASC Clonal Facility was inaugurated last September 12, 2014. The project is located at the Institute of Agriculture. The construction of Clonal Nursery was made possible through an approved project from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The total budget was P3,500,000.00 of which only P2,0000,000.00 was used for the construction of facility. This is in support to DENR National Greening Program. The occasion was graced by Dr. Portia Lapitan, DENR-ERDB Director and other officials of DENR in the region and provincial levels.

The newly constructed Clonal Facility of the college funded by the

II. Hosting of the Graduate Education Association of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (GEACCUP)-Region III Meeting The college was chosen to host the GEACCUP Meeting last July 23, 2014.

III. HOSTING OF JOINT RRDCC-EXPERTS POOL 2ND QUARTER REGULAR

MEETING BASC hosted the Joint RRDCC-Experts Pool 2nd Quarter Regular Meeting held last July 4 at the Rene Cayetano Hall. Dr. Ruben C. Sevilleja, CLSU President and CLARRDEC Chair, presided over the meeting.

I. RESULT OF THE LICENSURE EXAMINATION

a. Licensure Examination for Agriculturists 100% passing in the Licensure Examination for Agricultural

Engineers taken last July 2014.

II. ACTIVITIES PARTICIPATED IN BY THE COLLEGE THROUGH ACSA a. 2nd Placer the Singakaban Festival of Bulacan

The college through its Liping Tagalog Folkloric Group joined the Singkaban Festival on folkdance category. The group won P40,000.00 as cash prize.

b. Participation to Inter-School Regional Taekwondo Championship The Taekwondo Group joined the Inter-School Regional Taekwondo Championship in Balanga, Bataan. The team won 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.

III. ACTIVITIES OF THE COLLEGE UNDER ACSA a. Updates on On-the-Job-Training (Agrostudies, Israel)

A total of 43 students (6th Batch) came home after an 11-month on-the-job-training in Israel through the Agrostudies. On the other hand, the same number of students left for Israel for their 11-month OJT also.

b. IGS 10th Founding Anniversary The college through it Institute of Graduate Studies conducted its 10th

Founding Anniversary last July 23, 2014. The anniversary was successfully

attended by two hundred seventy (270) graduate students and twenty six

(26) IGS faculty. Different activities were done like Cultural Show by the

graduate students and IGS faculty members and raffle.

c. Orientation Program for Graduate Students 2014-2015 A total of two hundred thirty nine (239) attended the Orientation Program

last June 21, 2014. The main objective of the activity was to discuss the history of

BASC, its policies and regulations, and its Mission and Vision. Likewise, students

were informed about the increasing number of enrollees.

a. Expanded Students’ Grants-in-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation

(ESGP-PA) A continued monitoring of the 112 scholars is done to assess their academic performance.

Certificates of scholarship to 306 students who will receive P6,000.00 financial assistance per semester.

Four institutes and the Laboratory High School held its 1st PTA Meeting to orient parents to the policies/rules that the college and the institute are implementing at present. The activity was also an opportune time to discuss the different concerns of the parents to the academic activities and status of their children and the possible remedies to all future problematic circumstances.

II. ACTIVITIES OF THE FACULTY AND EMPLOYEES

Local SCUFAR

The college through BNASCFEA conducted its annual Local SCUFAR

last September 10, 2014. This activity was done for the faculty and staff to temporarily break away with their work and at the same time, this is also the time to determine the players/athletes who will compete to the annual State Universities and Colleges Faculty Association in Region III (SCUFAR III) Olympics.

Research, Extension & Training

1. RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT OFFICE

a. On-Station Trials of Prathista Bio-Organic Fertilizers on Eggplant

(PCAARRD) Currently on its second cropping

starting last July, the date of

harvest is expected on September.

The first cropping was established

from March to June with a total

harvest of 34.5kg. Prathista

products such as Wonder, Megacal

and Aishwarya were used to

fertilize the eggplants.

b. On-Station Trials of Prathista Bio-Organic Fertilizers on Bittergourd (PCAARRD) Also on its second cropping

starting last July, harvesting of

bittergourd fruits were conducted

and data were also gathered in

terms of the number of marketable

and non-marketable fruits, fruit

length, etc. The first cropping was

established from February to June

with a total harvest of 53.5kg from

a 336sqm actual production area.

Initial results of the study was presented during the Semi-Annual Review of

Prathista Projects held alst August 26 at the DA-BAR, Quezon City.

c. Aerobic Rice Research, Development and Extension Project in Region III (DA-BAR) The second tranche release for the project amounting to PhP1.4M is scheduled

for release by DA-BAR this September.

d. Validation and Documentation of Organic Practices for Lowland Rice and Pole-Sitao in Region III (DA-BAR)

Gathering of data on the yield and number of pods is currently undertaken from five organic farmer-cooperators for pole sitao and five conventional pole sitao farmers. Farmer-cooperators from San Ildefonso and San Rafael, Bulacan were identified for pole sitao. As for the conventional rice and organic rice, 10 farmer-cooperators were identified from San Ildefonso, San Rafael, Plaridel and Pulilan, Bulacan.

e. Assessment of Productivity Enhancement Measures on Carabao Mango in Central Luzon (PCAARRD)

A total of 160 farmers, students, agricultural technicians and faculty members attended the “Training Course on Productivity Enhancement Measures on Carabao mango in Central Luzon” held last July 2&3 at Cayetano Hall, BASC.

2. EXTENSION AND TRAINING OFFICE a. Palayamanan Projects

Palayamanan in the Community (PhilRice and PGB). A constant

supervision for the continued collection of financial assistance (roll over

scheme) from PC 7 & PC8 farmer cooperators last June 20 & 26 2014 was

done.

Palayamanan in the Uplands (DA-RFO3). The terminal report for the

project was submitted to the DA-RFO III Office at San Fernando, Pampanga last June 9, 2014. Financial assistance (roll-over scheme) was also released to farmer-cooperators last June 24, 2014.

A total of 52 farmer-adopters together with their respective technicians from Sapang Dayap-San Ildefonso, Maligaya-San Miguel and Pandi, Bulacan attended the activity wherein each farmer received Php5,000. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by concerned parties.

The project in-charge also visited the model farm in Maligaya, San Miguel, Bulacan last June 27, 2014. Seven heads of Peking duck in addition to their native ducks and native chicken were distributed to the farmer-cooperators.

b. Improving the Livelihood of Swamp and Flood-prone Rice-based

Communities in Region III (PhilRice). Continued loan collection from

farmer-cooperators is currently being undertaken. Distribution of inputs for

the project is scheduled on November for the dry season.

c. Upscaling of Diversified and Integrated Rice-Based Farming Systems in

the Rainfed Lowlands and Upland Areas of Bulacan (DA-RFO 3). Almost

60 farmers, technicians and project management staff composed the group

who visited the Costales Organic Farm for the Lakbay-Aral held last June 20,

2014 at Majayjay, Laguna. The farm owner conducted a seminar on organic

farming practices and management. The group of farmers, technicians and

project management staff enjoyed visiting the vegetable areas, seedling

nursery, native pig & poultry areas as well as the organic fertilizer

production areas.

II. UPDATES ON THE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS OF THE COLLEGE

The construction of the Science Laboratory Center is already on its 65%

completion. The project cost is P5,342,481.59.

Facade of the two-storey-four-classroom generated from the Office of Gov. Wilhemino Sy-

Alvarado amounting to P P4,600,000.00. The project is already on its 85% completion.

The construction of the Institute of Management Building is already on its 85%

completion. The budget for this project is P4,015,240.32.

An extension room for the Office of Student Affairs is presently constructed to

accommodate to the increasing number of enrollees. It is already on its 75%

completion. The project cost is P413,176.40 from the college income and cash donation

of Dr. Gil Villacorte amounting to P100,000.00.

One stall of the Business Center was renovated and converted into Men’s

Dorm. This is to house the college varsity (baseball players). The cost of

renovation amounted to P133,456.00.

A stockroom for the Office of the Auditor is currently constructed to house the

increasing volume of documents. The project cost is P165,000.00 from the college

income. It is now on its 75% completion.
