THURSDAY, JUNE 14

7:00 a.m. REGISTRATION AND COFFEE

8:00 a.m. SEMINAR I A LEGAL UPDATE You will want to ensure you take your seat early on day one to catch the kickoff of the educational portion of our 2018 Conference. Our first seminar will provide us with an in-sightful presentation on the legal changes that have occurred in the transportation in-dustry in the last year, and some that are on the horizon. How may they impact your op-erations going forward? This topic is one that has been presented many times in previous years and has become one of the most popu-lar segments, always having a full and en-gaged room. We are very grateful that Heather Devine of Issacs and Co. will once again provide us with this update. 9:15 a.m. SEMINAR II CMV ON ROAD SAFETY, AN OFFICER’S PER-SPECTIVE In this session, Staff Sergeant Michael Hinsberger of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, and Chair of the Ontario Police Com-mercial Vehicle Committee, (OPCVC) and Constable Pat Martin, Vice Chair of the OPCVC, will walk attendee’s through some stats and information obtained from their CMV safety blitzes. Included in this presenta-tion will be statistics, defects found, driver and officer interaction, among other inter-esting and helpful insights that will help driv-ers and their companies prepare if they get stopped for an inspection. Mike and Pat will also discuss the issue of distracted driving and other current road safety related issues. The Seminar will conclude with a moderated question and answer period from an Insur-ance Industry representative. 10:30 a.m. SEMINAR III YLG’S DRIVEN TO LEAD PROGRAM AND YLG PANEL-PMTC YLG EDUCATION BURSARY AWARD The ‘Driven to Lead’ program is an experien-tial, practical leadership program that will take participants through hands-on and im-pactful exercises focusing on topics like cul-ture, teamwork, accountability and strategy. It is intended for both up-and-coming and current leaders who are looking to advance and develop their personal and professional skills. The program will be facilitated by Eagle’s Flight at their facility in Guelph, Ontario and begins in September of this year. Eagle’s Flight is known as a global leader in educa-

tion for their approach to delivering training programs that are business-relevant and invoke lasting behavioral change. Eagle’s Flight will provide a brief overview of the modules content and what attendees can expect to learn. Following the overview, Eagles Flight will moderate a panel of YLG Members to gain their perspective on the industry as a whole; the program, and what they are looking for as far as education and support in their ca-reer path from where their employers are concerned. At the conclusion of the YLG Pan-el, up to 2 PMTC Members will be presented with the YLG Education Bursary Award, which covers the costs for the recipient to complete 2 of the 4 courses that are required to complete the “PMTC Logistics Manage-ment Graduate Program”

11:30 a.m. EXHIBITORS’ SHOWCASE Visit with our conference exhibitors and net-work with fellow registrants. Meet old friends, make some new ones, and see prod-ucts and services that can make your fleet more effective. 12:15 p.m. LUNCHEON PMTC – CPC LOGISTICS CANADA DRIVER HALL OF FAME Every year we induct up to four professional drivers who have compiled outstanding safe-ty records over the course of their ca-reer. Recognizing their individual achieve-ments is always a conference highlight. Please join us and help honor the deserving drivers who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for 2018! RICK AUSTIN MEMORIAL DISPATCHER OF THE YEAR AWARD, SPONSORED BY CPC LOGISTCIS CANADA Right after the conclusion of the HOF awards we will present our inaugural Rick Austin Dispatcher of the year recipient. Dispatchers are an integral part of any fleet, and one that is often overlooked. Help us recognize the first ever winner, and honors Rick’s memory. 1:45 p.m. SEMINAR IV INTRODUCTION TO THE 2018 PMTC CANADIAN BENCHMARKING SURVEY & A US REGULATORY UPDATE In this seminar, Gary Petty and Tom Moore, from the National Private Truck Council, will provide us with an overview of the 2nd Annu-al PMTC Canadian Benchmarking Survey. The PMTC, in collaboration with the NPTC, rein-troduced their Benchmarking Survey last year, which is now an annual survey provided free to PMTC members. Gary and Tom will go

over some of the findings of the survey, and share how some of these compare to the trends in the US private fleet market as well. The survey is being released just in time for the conference, to provide a sneak peek of the highlights. Tom and Gary will also provide us with an update on the latest US Federal Regulatory and Compliance issues and any that may be coming down the line moving forward. 3:00 p.m. SEMINAR V ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS: PRESERVING EVIDENCE & PREPARING FOR LITIGATION USING FORENSIC EXPERTS When it comes to trucking, the risk manage-ment conversation typically revolves around regulatory issues, operations, and safety. However, despite best efforts to adhere to good operating practices, accidents will hap-pen. If the response to these accidents is poor, the costs can be large enough to out-weigh the benefits of the best laid out plans. In the immediate wake of these often-tragic incidents, fleets can be caught off guard, underprepared or underinformed to make the quick decisions that need to be made to protect themselves. This presentation ex-plores the practices that fleets can put in place to deal with these incidents so that they are more equipped to mount the neces-sary legal defense and protect the parties in the event of a regulatory investigation. Case studies will be presented to show how the early retention of legal counsel and inde-pendent forensic experts often leads to the best results. The concepts of evidence preservation and spoliation, and the ramifi-cations they have on legal proceedings & regulatory investigations will be discussed. 4:15 p.m. EXHIBITORS’ SHOWCASE Another opportunity to network with your peers, continue conversations, and visit with exhibitors during our reception, before the Chairman’s Dinner. 5:30 p.m. CHAIRMAN’S DINNER PMTC-AVIVA PRIVATE FLEET SAFETY AWARDS & PMTC-KRTS DRIVER TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP Recognizing private fleets with exceptional safety records is an important part of the conference. Join us for the presentation of the 2018 awards and dine with the private & dedicated fleet community. We also have the PMTC-KRTS Driver Training Scholarship. One lucky PMTC member will receive the funds to cover a 200-hour TTSAO or PTDI Certified Professional Truck Driver course.

The GTA has the highest rate of cargo thefts in Canada, with stats rivaling large US supply chain cities of LA, Dallas and Miami. Despite all of this, it gets very little media attention and is considered a victimless crime. In this seminar, Todd Moore, President of the Canadian Armed Robbery Training Associates, will provide attendees with an overview of the issue, and describe the perspective from an organized crime level, the issues with media coverage, and involve-ment from an enforcement perspective. You will receive a unique perspective of cargo crime that you have unlikely received before. Your perspective of cargo crime, and how to deal with it, just may be changed after this insightful and eye-opening presentation. 10:30 a.m. SEMINAR VII SOCIAL MEDIA INVESTIGATIONS Social media networks have emerged as the next frontier for security investi-gations and this presentation will delve into the current social media land-scape and the social media life cycle. Attendees will learn more about open source investigations, data collected from publicly available sources, and the full capabilities of geo-fencing, targeting a specific area to gather evidence of a current workplace investigation. Maeve Davis of ISB Canada will also discuss the potential landmines associated with conducting your own social media investigation and ultimately the importance of the handling of collected data and their court admissibility. 11:30 a.m. CLOSING REMARKS 11:35 a.m. CONFERENCE ADJOURNS
