For many, tryouts are often a great source of stress. In order to help alleviate unneeded stress, we recommend the following: A few days prior to try-outs, sit down with your child and help them understand the proc- ess. Ask him/her what goals they have for the coming season. Make sure they are eating good balanced meals and drinking plenty of fluids. Sleep is also important, make sure they get to bed early and get a good night’s sleep. During try-outs, get them to the rink early (being right on time or late could cause them to lose the mental focus they need to do their best on the ice). Make sure they stretch be- fore going on the ice (this is a great way to mentally focus and gets the blood flowing.) Keep them drinking water (staying hydrated will assist them during the try-outs as well as the recovery needed after each session). Before their scheduled tryouts, remind them to do their best and that you are proud of their efforts. After the sessions, let your hockey player unwind, as they need to decompress and men- tally shut off for a few minutes. Refrain from negative words or tones and always support your child as they are counting on you to help them if in need of confidence recovery. If they had some challenges, don’t dwell on them and focus on what they did right and again remind them how proud you are of them. When try-outs end and they are placed on their teams, celebrate their efforts. If there’s disappointment, let them know how proud you are of them and that no matter what team they made you are excited to see them play. If possible, point out friends that are also on their team and focus on the fun they'll have during the season. We wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to seeing you at the rink. RAHA Parents,

We are excited to begin another season of Rosemount Irish Hockey. The Board of Direc-

tors is at work setting up parent meetings, tryouts and fundraising opportunities.

The tryout process and fundraising opportunities will be explained at the parent meet-

ings. It is required that an adult from each family attend their meeting so that they can

given information and any questions that may arise can be answered.

For many, tryouts are often a great source of stress. In order to help alleviate unneeded

stress, we recommend the following:

A few days prior to try-outs, sit down with your child and help them understand the proc-

ess. Ask him/her what goals they have for the coming season. Make sure they are eating

good balanced meals and drinking plenty of fluids. Sleep is also important, make sure they

get to bed early and get a good night’s sleep.

During try-outs, get them to the rink early (being right on time or late could cause them to

lose the mental focus they need to do their best on the ice). Make sure they stretch be-

fore going on the ice (this is a great way to mentally focus and gets the blood flowing.)

Keep them drinking water (staying hydrated will assist them during the try-outs as well as

the recovery needed after each session). Before their scheduled tryouts, remind them to

do their best and that you are proud of their efforts.

After the sessions, let your hockey player unwind, as they need to decompress and men-

tally shut off for a few minutes. Refrain from negative words or tones and always support

your child as they are counting on you to help them if in need of confidence recovery. If

they had some challenges, don’t dwell on them and focus on what they did right and

again remind them how proud you are of them.

When try-outs end and they are placed on their teams, celebrate their efforts. If there’s

disappointment, let them know how proud you are of them and that no matter what

team they made you are excited to see them play. If possible, point out friends that are

also on their team and focus on the fun they'll have during the season.

We wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to seeing you at the rink.
