ACCTS PRAYER REMINDER JULY 2010 Note: ACCTS is privileged to partner with AMCF (Association of Military Christian Fellowships) in ministry around the globe. This month, please pray for AMCF’s president and vice presidents, whose names are in bold print. 1 Today is Canada Day, sometimes referred to as “Canada’s birthday.” Please remember the MCF of Canada and its members in your prayers. Pray that all of its prayer groups, includ- ing a new group in Valcartier, will bring the Lord’s presence to those places. 2 The leader of Angola’s military Christian fel- lowship is working to get biblical literature to Angola’s armed forces. He has had positive responses from military leaders. Pray for strate- gies and wisdom for those who will distribute the literature. Air Cdre (Ret.) Ishaku Komo 3 Tomorrow is the USA’s Independence Day. Today, please pray that members of the USA’s Christian Military Fellowship will be guided by the Holy Spirit to share Christ with their coworkers in loving ways. 4 The following prayer was adopted by AMCF in 1930 with the suggestion that it be prayed each Sunday: “Heavenly Father, we thank you that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin. Bless the service men and women of all nations, and grant that we who know the joy of being ‘all one in Christ Jesus’ may be filled with your love and pass it on to others through the power of the Holy Spirit until His coming again.” 5 Praise God that the Haitian military Christian fellowship was relaunched in May. There are approximately 28 all-ranks Christians participat- ing. Pray that this group of men and women will be an encouragement to others, especially those still facing problems due to the earthquake. 6 Thailand has recently experienced severe political problems; pray that its leaders will unify their country and bring it back from what was nearly civil war. Pray in particular for military Christians in this nation, who are a faithful mi- nority among Thailand’s armed forces. General (Ret.) Ruben Ciron 7 Pray for wisdom for military Christians in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and pray that justice and peace will be restored. Pray also for the safety of UN troops, who protect civilians and aid agency workers. Brigadier David Wakaalo 8 Nigeria’s police forces have been accused of extrajudicial killings, torture, and rape. Pray for the many military and civilian Christians in Nige- ria who are working for their nation’s future, and pray that God will give them wisdom as they fight corruption and injustice. 9 Pakistan faces several challenges in its fight against terror, including non-governmental people being trained by paramilitary extremist movements. There are a very small number of military Christians in Pakistan – please pray that God will guide them and keep them safe as they serve their nation. General (Ret.) Srilal Weera- sooriya 10 In Japan, today is the Feast of Lanterns – a Buddhist custom which honors the deceased spirits of one’s ancestors. Pray that military Christians in Japan will continue faithfully serving God while also serving their country and cowork- ers. 11 Pray for a return to peace and for a strong and fair government to be formed in Kyrgyzstan. Pray that corruption would be routed out and hu- man rights would be restored to the people. 12 Pray for the United Kingdom’s new prime minister and other new governmental leaders in this powerful country. Pray also for the UK’s Armed Forces Christian Union and their minis- tries, including an early August Summer House- party. Commander (Ret.) 14 The Philippines held elections in May; pray that the new government will move the peace process forward, work to dissolve private armies, and bring justice to victims of past injustice.

15 In January 2011 South Su-dan will hold a referendum to decide whether it will secede from the North. Pray that new conflict will be avoided and that military Christians in both regions will guide their country toward reconciliation and jus-tice. BGen David Wakaalo

16 Colombia’s half-century of armed conflict and grow-ing tensions with neighbors causes special problems for its military personnel. Pray that military Christians in this nation will live uprightly before God and others as they serve Him. LTC (Ret.) Omar Lar-razabal

21 Cote D’Ivoire has experienced escalating ten-sions related to political elections - pray that mili-tary Christians in this nation will be strengthened in Christ to serve Him and their nation at this difficult time.

22 Pray with the thousands of military Christians

in Brazil as they strive to live daily in obedience to God’s will. Pray for their various ministries, includ-ing the “Mornings with God” program.

23 AMCF Vice President Nestor Ogilvie asks for prayer for his wife’s home nation of Jamaica, which saw civil strife in May. Pray for the safety and in-tegrity of Jamaica’s military police and government,

and in particular ask that military Christians will be a force for good in their nation.

24 The most recent MCF of Australia Crossfire maga-zine dealt with the topic of grief. Pray that the magazine will help Australian military personnel and their families find God’s grace during their times of grief and sorrow. Chaplain Eric Burton

25 Pray for Colonel (Ret.) Joaquin Maldonado and other military Christians in the Central American nations of Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Gua-temala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama.

26 A U.S. military Christian fellowship, Officers’ Christian Fellowship, has a new ex-ecutive director at the helm in August. Please pray for Brigadier General (Ret.) Da-vid Warner as he leads this organization.

27 Pray with ACCTS’ direc-tor of finance, Bernhard Kaltenbach, and members of ACCTS’ finance committee as they provide guidance for our budget.

28 Pray with ACCTS’ direc-tor, Cal Dunlap, as he leads our ministry. Pray also for the ACCTS board as they help direct our ministry in the upcoming months.

29 Japanese military Chris-tians are preparing to host the 3-5 September AMCF East Asia Conference. Pray for them as they prepare for this important conference.
