What is Godly Play? Based on Montessori princi-ples, this approach helps us to explore our faith through story, to gain religious language, and to enhance our spiritual experience through wonder and play. This class is for all ages, 4 years old and above. Please arrive promptly at 10:00 am.

Backpacks for Kids Collection Has Begun! Milling Area, King Avenue UMC Main Level

Look for the yellow school bus stop in the Milling Area! Pick a grade level tag, pur-chase and fill a backpack with the desig-nated items on your tag and bring it back to the school bus by July 9th. This mission project will benefit families supported by NNEMAP.

Sun, July 2 9am & 11am VBS Kids sing during worship 10am Faith in Poetry Sunday School @ King Avenue UMC, Fireside Room (Upper Level)

Join Angela Finney and Shane Poole to read faith-based poetry and create your very own works of written art. This class is for all ages and all writing levels. It is inspired by the book Poems That Will Save Your Life. No book or prep work is necessary and we welcome you to attend every class or just drop by for one. Contact Angela Finney or Shane Poole for more information.

Tues, July 11 6:30-7:30pm The Walking Group @ King Avenue UMC (weekly on Tues-days)

Spend an hour with other adults and get some exercise in at the same time. Walking Group will start at King Avenue UMC and take an hour long walk as a group to get your heart rate up, talk to your King Avenue friends and enjoy the lovely summer evening. Child-care will be provided for kids up to age 9. Please confirm childcare needs by the Monday prior to the weekly walking group so we can be sure to have adequate staffing available. Participation and child-care request should be posted on the Facebook Event. Space is lim-ited and drop-in care will not be available. Walkers should drop off their children between 6:15-6:30pm and meet in the Milling Area for step-off. Event route is suggested on Facebook Event.

Join us for the Blessing of the Animals service!

Who? All of God’s creatures… and their people!

What? A short (30-minute) service of music, prayer, and blessing. We will remember lost pets, too.

Where? Whetstone Park, Shelterhouse 1 (the open-air shelter at the bottom of the hill next to the Park of Roses parking lot). Some picnic table seating available, but you can also bring your own chairs.

When? Sunday, August 20 at 6:00

The Blessing of the Animals service begins at 6:00, but you are welcome to come earlier for a stroll through the Rose Park with King Avenue friends before the service. If you’d like to stay after the service, the Capital City Chorus will be performing at the Park of Roses Gazebo beginning at 7:00pm. Bleacher seating is available, or you can take a chair or blanket. Whetstone Park Shelterhouse 1 and the Park of Roses is a 10-minute drive from King Avenue church, 3923 High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
