circumstances. As my friend, Superintendent Alan Warneke, did in High School, a runner who takes his eyes off the finish line to look at all the commotion around him will never finish first. It is important to fix our focus and run to win. If God has put a dream in your heart, don’t allow dis-tractions to keep you from reaching your goal! If voices of unbelief and ad-verse circumstances try to deter you from your objec-tive, refuse to let yourself get distracted. Fix your fo-cus on what the Lord has for you and you can make it all the way to the end! Let’s together ask the Holy Spirit to refocus our atten-tion on God’s plan for our lives. He will empower us to run all the way to the fin-ish line. Fix your focus. Blessings,

Fix Your Focus
I just got back from Family camp, at Lakewood Park, what a great time was had by all. During camp my friend and Montana District Superin-tendent Alan Warneke, told a story about a race he ran in high school. He and a rival friend were competing for the attention of a girl they both liked and wanted to date. On this particular day Alan spot-ted this girl in the stands be-fore a race he was to com-pete in. He told how he was determined, although never able to before, to beat his rival in front of this girl. The first lap around the track Alan was way out front, the second lap still a commanding lead, the third lap still ahead. On the forth lap and the final cor-ner Alan looked into the stands to make sure the girl was watching him defeat his rival. With twenty-five yards remaining, as Alan was still focused on the stands, his ri-val sprinted past him and won the race. Distracted he lost the race. The writer of Hebrews say, “Therefore, since we are sur-rounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hin-ders and the sin that so easily
entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and per-fecter of our faith…” (12:1-2) Have you ever felt distracted from the plan God has for your life? Do you have a hard time staying focused on your life goals? What are your goals? Maybe a better question is, do you have goals? Are you run-ning your spiritual race like a runner headed toward a finish line, or are you aimlessly run-ning about with no sense of direction? These are good questions to ask ourselves in light of this phrase in Hebrews – “let us run.” The words “let us run” are taken from the Greek word trecho. It means to run. But this isn’t the picture of a casual runner or an amateur athlete. This runner is disciplined, fo-cused and striving to win! He is giving it all he’s got to reach the finish line before anyone else. He is driven by purpose, commitment, and determina-tion! One of the fastest ways Satan can knock a believer out of his race and keep him from finish-ing victoriously is to get him “distracted” by surrounding
