In my last letter I explained why we were not yet at the stage of opening up the sanctuary for private prayer or Sunday morning worship. The work required to bring about the possibilty of opening has continued and I am pleased to be able to give you an update. The following statement has been put on our website and Facebook page: You may be wondering when we will be returning to worship in the sanctuary. At present we have a COVID task group who are working towards this and we hope to be able to open on a Sunday morning sometime late summer. Lots of careful preparation needs to be done and this has to be approved by Presbytery, so it is difficult to give a specific date at this stage. Capacity will be very limited so rather than open for live worship, we are planning to open initially so that people can watch the online service. It is our intention to introduce a Sunday evening service which will be ‘in person’ and live, but will be streamed on our YouTube channel so that it can be viewed at home as well. Consideration is being given as to how we might open the Hub Cafe. Again no date has been set for this and the likelihood is that to begin with it will be very different with a limited menu and shorter opening hours. Everyone’s health and wellbeing is paramount and we won’t open any of our facilities until we are satisfied that all measures have been taken to keep worshippers and those who use our halls as safe as is possible. Please be patient and keep the members of Cults Parish Church COVID task group in your prayers. We are sorry that when we do begin to open the sanctuary we will not be able to invite everyone to come. If you would like to come to watch the online service in the sanctuary please let Graeme Robertson know. His telephone number is 01224 867260 and email: [email protected]. The Church of Scotland has produced a self scoring system based on government guidelines to help people decided if they should be attending worship. You will find this attached with this newsletter. We offer this simply as an aid. It is for you to decide for yourself if you wish to attend the viewing of the online service. Places are limited and will be offered on a first come first serve basis. We do ask that those who can continue to watch the service from the comfort of your own homes. This will enable us to prioritise those who have not been able to do so. With the lifting of some restrictions you are now able to visit each other more easily. One idea might be to invite a friend to watch the service with you. You can even enjoy a cuppa in your own home, something we will not be able to do after church for some time to come. Obviously we will keep you up to date with any changes to our current plans. With the government guidelines being updated regularly things can change. As always you are in my prayers.
