DIRECTOR’S NOTE

When the leadership team decided to “go virtual” with C.A.K.E. questions raced through my head about what the One Act could and would look like. Any nervousness or and anxiety dissipated as soon as the auditions started (which were certainly not bad.) This group of talented young actors rose to the challenge of creating art in an entirely different way. Their resiliency, adaptability, and willingness to step out of their comfort zone shines through in this incredibly hilarious and ridiculous show. Having worked with many of these students over the past five years, it is incredible to see their growth and ability to create unique, interesting, and often strange characters. Not only were they actors but they also had to create their costumes, sets, lighting, sound, and props. The levity and laughter of the 50 minutes we spend together each morning feeds the soul. I hope you can sit back and enjoy quite a few laughs. And thank you so much to Jacob, Martin, Hannah, Sophie, Charlotte, Jameson and Gabby for all your hard work!

--Laura

AUDIENCE TECHNOLOGY GUIDE Thank you for purchasing your tickets to our first ever virtual One Act! The cast and I are very excited for you to see Bad Auditions… On Camera and we wanted to share some tips and trickso you have the best viewing experience. --Laura Carbonneau, Director

ZOOM WEBINAR & TECHNOLOGY • We recommend downloading Zoom to your device prior to the start of the show.

• Unlike most Zoom calls, we are using the webinar feature. You will only see the actors. Audience cameras and microphones are disabled.

• To improve internet connection during the performances, we also recommend that you disconnect as many other devices from the internet as possible (cellphones, gaming devices, computers, etc. that are not in use) and close all other applications on the device you are using.

• If you are in the same household as an actor we recommend that any family viewing from home uses a different internet connection than the actor, when possible.

• To avoid distractions during the performance, we recommend all notification on your device should be set to silent or do not disturb.

• The optimal set-up is in a place with a strong internet connection, preferably closest to your WiFi router. If available, an ethernet cable can help ensure an uninterrupted internet connection.

CHAT ETIQUETTE • There is a chat feature available. Please refrain from using this during the performance as it is distracting to the actors.

• If you are having technical problems during the performance, there will be a staff member monitoring the chat to assist you.

• Once the performance is over, we encourage you to share your congratulations to the cast in the chat

Lastly, we recognize the unpredictability of online performances. We have done our best to mitigate technical issues throughout the summer… But they happen! Our actors are trained in theancient art of improvisation and will do their best to bring you the full show in all its grandeur… Asthey say “the show must go on!”
