Many thanks for your prayers and support for my dad, my family, and me. My dad, Jack Meystrik, was readmitted to the hospital this week for congestive heart failure. He received a pacepaker which has helped stabilize his heart rate, but he is still in poor health. I appreaicate your prayers and understanding as I journey with my dad and family on this road in the vineyard of our Lord. Fr. Greg

Suggested Offering for a Mass Intention IncreasedRecently, the bishops of the Province of Missouri raised the stan-dard Mass offering amount from $5 to $10 per Mass, effective July 1, 2019.Raising the standard amount simply puts the Diocese of Jefferson City in line with other dioceses within Missouri as well as the provinces that surround our state. Please note that a priest is always free, however, to accept an offering for less than or more than the standard amount. What is desired is that the donor share sacrificially in the offering of Mass.Donors are encouraged to reflect on the generosity of God in determining the amount they wish to offer to the priest along with their spiritual intentions, but the standard amount is a good guideline.

Memorial of St. MarthaMonday, July 29th

What's on your calendar this week? On July 29th, we celebrate the feast of St. Martha, unofficial patron of workaholics and busybodies ev-erywhere. Martha appears several times in Scripture. One passage we heard in our recent Sunday Gospel. Jesus has visited the home of Martha and Mary. Mary sits at the feet of our Lord, soaking in his teaching. In the meantime, Martha is washing dishes, preparing hors d'oeuvres, and playing the hostess. Sound familiar? John's Gospel doesn't shy away from Martha's active nature either. After the death of their brother Lazarus, Martha is the first to greet Jesus, and while she's quite confident in Jesus' pow-er to heal, she's the first to warn him of the possible smell should the tomb be opened. While Mary often gets the credit for contempla-tive holiness, we can't forget that pragmatic is a saint, too! As we strive to place Jesus in the right per-spective, making him king of our hearts and over all our daily tasks, we can know that we're in good company. St. Martha, pray for us!
