St. Marks Outreach comes forward again, helping Steve and Nancy Johnson of St. Marks with programs and funding for Camp Hope, Wyoming’s special event for children with diabetes. Not only has the Outreach Committee provided funds to cover registration costs for children whose families cannot afford the fee, but when we needed help with transportation, we were offered the use of the bus. Steve and Nancy Johnson founded Camp Hope in 1979 making this year our 40th year of operation. Our legacy is the fact that our campers have returned year after year, and have dedicated themselves to “paying it forward”, serving on our staff once they are old enough. In example, a camper who first arrived at camp at the age of 5, has returned to camp for 32 years and is now, at the age of 37, a member of the Board of Directors and a program administrator for Camp Hope. This young man is Josh McGlade, a schoolteacher in Casper. When Josh is not working hard to ensure the future good health of scores of children with diabetes, he serves his community by educating young children as part of their preparation for life. For 32 years he has selflessly volunteered his time to make sure that he pays forward all he learned at camp about how to live a good life with diabetes. To the people of St. Marks and especially the Outreach Committee, a sincere thank you from the

children of Camp Hope!

I am always totally amazed by the volunteer efforts among the members of our church. Paula and Pamela go shopping every couple of weeks to refill all the diapers and other products we hand out at the library every week. Steve Kurtz is there almost every week handing out laundry vouchers and that ministry is getting bigger and bigger. Nancy Engstrom has filled in for him numerous times. David Blair has been a loyal driver constantly... and that’s just our Wednesday Library ministry. The Sunday diaper ministry includes even more volunteers hauling diapers up and down stairs, hauling food up and down stairs, setting up the diapers handing out the diapers and packing up the diapers. St. Mark’s you are amazing! Father Jim

Thank you Camp Hope for filling up the bus! You can

use it anytime you’d like!

To all our Dear Friends and Family at St. Mark's: It is with bittersweet emotions that I write this letter to you all. Just a few short weeks ago, Phil received a very unexpected but excellent offer for a job in Salt Lake City. After some serious consideration and a lot of prayers, we decided to accept the position, and we will be moving to SLC by the end of the summer. This was certainly a weighty decision, and not an easy one to make. It's going to be difficult to leave our families, friends, our church, and this wonderful community. However, this opportunity was simply too good to pass up. As many of you may have noticed, Phil's current position requires quite a lot of travel - often 2 weeks at a time. His new position will reduce his travel significantly, and the kids and I are looking forward to spending much more quality time with him. As we start to (frantically) prepare to move, I've found myself reminiscing about my history at St. Mark's. I grew up in St. Mark's as a child and was confirmed at St. Mark's as a teen. 10 years ago this July, Phil and I were married at St. Mark's. We began attending again when we moved back to Casper in 2012, and our 4 children were baptized at St. Mark's. For the last 3 years, I have also led the Children's Chapel on Sunday mornings, and it's been so joyful to experience praise, worship, and wonder through the eyes of the kids. For many years, St. Mark's has been a home to me, to Phil, and to our children, and it has been a home filled with the very best "family" members. For all the love and support you have given to me and my family across those many years, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We will miss seeing all of you each week, but rest assured - we will be back to visit. You'll know we've arrived when you see multiple unattended children running through the pews making a ruckus, followed by exhausted looking parents carrying too much stuff. Until then... In Christ, and with much love, Laura Laura & Phil Nickerson Carlin (6), Harvey Mack (4), Arthur (3), and Mabel (18mo)

Don’t miss this exciting workshop! Register today for the Leading with Dialogue: Critical Conversations for Church Leaders. Dr. Steven Tomlinson, Associate Professor of Leadership and Administration at the Seminary of the Southwest, will be the presenter. The workshop will be held Friday, August 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. thru Saturday, August 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming will cover registration and meals both days of the conference, lodging costs for August 9th for up to three lay representatives to attend, although more are welcome and all active clergy are also expected to attend. We look forward to seeing you in Casper on August 9th.

“The Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming is looking for real

A PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION!

Please join us Sunday, July 7th at 9:00 AM for both a patriotic and spiritual worship service as we celebrate the ideals of our

country in light of the cross of Jesus Christ. The Episcopal Church officially came into being at Christ Church, Philadelphia (a few blocks down from Liberty Hall) in 1789 and was influenced by some of the signers

of the Declaration of Independence and those who voted on our Constitution that

same year. The service will have patriotic songs woven through the worship and the

congregation will be expected to join in. We will have four trombones to liven things up!
