The Heisinger Golf tournament for Hospice was again a great event. We had
132 players and at this writing, it looks like we will present a check to Hos-
pice of the Sierra for about $15,000. We are looking for volunteers to help us
put together future events. If you have an idea or worked on other fun events
that may work for our lodge, let us know. We are always looking for more
events to make our lodge a fun place to visit and a destination for our mem-
bers. Please let any of the lodge officers know your interested or send me an
email at “[email protected]”. Finally, I don’t know if you’ve noticed we
have a new TV in the dining room. I want to thank Bob Burns for his gener-
ous donation. After our last new member orientation TV disaster, Bob went
right out and purchased a new TV. Thank you Bob!

Hello Brothers and Co-Workers!!
Well, summer is in full swing at the lodge!!! We have a lot of fun upcoming events in the next few months. This month wehave Ted and Kathy Carpenter's annual “Luau”. For those of you who have not made it to this event it is always a great time! Tedand Kathy create “Hawaii” in the mountains at our lodge and Ted barbecues a whole pig!!! So come out and enjoy a little slice of theHawaiian Islands and enjoy good food, cold drinks and GREAT friends!!
On August 20th, (I know its early), but I want to get the word out about another great event; Maryann Fabian’s “Car Showand Chili Cook-Off”. This event was a huge success last year with some great cars and motorcycles on display!!! Everyone had somuch fun last year that Maryann decided to add a “chili cook-off” this year. I am looking forward to tasting some great chili andchecking out some awesome cars and motorcycles!!! Come by the lodge and pick up your entry forms for both events!!!!
I want to thank everyone who came out to the special cleaning day to clean up the outside of the lodge for the Heisinger golftournament. Because of all the volunteers, the clean up took no time at all! It’s volunteers that keep our lodge up and running! Thankyou for all your time and effort!!
Also as a quick reminder, during large events we will have a “Duty Officer” manning the door. If he or she asks for yourmoose ID please be courteous and present it to him/her even if you have been a member of the lodge since its inception. We haverules set forth by Moose International regarding non-member attendance at our lodge as well as LAWS we have to follow regardingour ABC license.
Our BULL MOOSE of the month is Wayne Renaud!!! Wayne joined the lodge in September of 2001. Wayne has been re-sponsible for taking all empty beer bottles to be recycled. And lets face it, we have a LOT of bottles to be returned. During the recentpine needle clean up at the lodge, Wayne volunteered the use of his newly purchase trailer to haul all the needles down to Gene Mill-ers. Thank you Wayne for all your time and effort!!!
Please have a safe and fun summer and come see us at the Lodge.
Yours Truly,Scott Freier, Governor

Congratulations to the Senior Class of 2016. I’m proud to report the WOTM gave five $500 scholarships to four seniors at BretHarte H.S. and one senior at Mountain Oaks Charter School. Thanks to all of you who attended an event that generated money to our Scholarship Committee.
I’d like to remind all members to report your Community Service Hours so that WOTM can get credit. Whether you live in thefoothills or the Bay Area, if you volunteer at your local library, Meals on Wheels, Hospice, Humane Society centers, or local Vet-eran centers please fill out a Community Service Hours form. The form can be found in the Lodge on the WOTM Bulletin boardin a large manila envelope. It will also be on the Ebbetts Pass Website very soon. These are just examples of community servicethere are many more ways to earn these hours. Call me and I can email a form to you if needed.
The WOTM have been assigned a monetary objective for a Moose International Special Centennial Project to build a three storyapartment complex at Moosehaven. We have accepted this challenge. A Special Moosehaven Centennial Project Committee, chaired by Elaine Shaffer, Jr Regent, has been created. You’ll see more raffles and 50/50s at more dinners and events to help usraise the money. You can help by donating any gifts that are “re-gifting” worthy to help fill the raffle baskets. We’ll be collectingthese items at any Chapter Meeting. See Elaine or me if you have questions.
July Activities: The Luau on July 23rd purchase tickets ahead of time $15 and the Gentle Stretch Class. I invite all of you to dustoff your hula skirt and come have some fun.
Our June Coworker of the Month is Cathy Kuhn who has been a WOTM member for about three years. Cathy is the Chairman ofthe Scholarship Committee and along with her team, they reviewed about 40 applications. She and Chaz Armstrong also attendedthe respective Award Ceremonies for the winners to present them with their scholarship. In addition, Cathy can report 17 ½ hoursof Community Service Hours as a volunteer for the Annual Arnold Library Book Sale. Great Job!!!
Please remember that our Lodge and WOTM rely on our members, near and far, to come have a meal, and join in events as well asvolunteering an hour of your time to keep our Chapter strong.
Have a safe and fun summer.
Fraternally,Senior RegentMelanie Kish

We are working on our membership quota for 2016 and we need some helpfrom our membership in order to make our goal of 524 members on our rolls. If you sponsor a new member now, there will be a $10.00 saving for the newmember on the cost to joins the Lodge is paying half of the application fee atthis time. So instead of $85.00 to join it is $75.00 right now.
We are asking that our membership enroll as many of their friends and rela-tives as they can during the month of July 2016, this would be a great help inreaching our goal and it would save the new member $10.00!!
We will be holding our New Member Orientation and free luncheon on Au-gust 13th 11:00 am this is open to all our members as well, so come to theLodge and welcome all our new members and have a great FREE lunch!!I want to thank you in advance for your help!!

We had a fantastic turn out for our Saturday Work Day on June 4th. Lots of you showed upto help get the pine needs raked and the back and front yards cleaned up and ready for our summerdinner events.
When I arrived, I found Mark and Ryan Miguel had come early and had begun raking a largeportion of the pine needles. Good way to get the job started and get ahead of the heat. We were thenjoined by Wayne Renaud, Marilyn Strand, Bill Osincup, Nancy Rubesa, Scott and Mcenna Freier,Jack and Elaine Shaffer, Mike Mullaney, Terry Long-Mullaney, Robert Bragg, Steve O, Steve Bre-aneu, Dane and Tyler Skaar, Denny Clemens, Jason Lemon, Karl Malmin, Scott McKinney and DanLeary. The work by many was finished in no time on a very hot day. Thanks to Wayne for the use ofhis dump trailer to haul the pine needles away. That was a big help. If I missed you, it is because youdidn’t sign the Work Day Sign In sheet and if I misspelled your name it is because I couldn’t figure itout, so you need to work on your penmanship.
Now, on to our regular Work Day on Tuesday, June 7. Where were you guys? I guess youdid such a great job on Saturday on the outside you forgot about Tuesday on the inside. Oh well, nobiggie. I hear a couple of you showed up after I left and sorry for that. It just looked like a no showat 9AM.
Let’s not forget about Karl Malmin and Dan Leary taking care of our lawns for us. DellaTaylor planted all of the flowers under our Moose sign. And who could forget Gloria Gonzales whofaithfully keeps our coffee pots and area clean all of the time.
Oh, I have a quick apology and beg for forgiveness. It seems that I missed mentioning thatPat Collum showed up on Sunday to help do some clean up while they were in town a while back. This is a very large omission as Pat headed up Work Day for years for the Lodge. So, thank you Patfor your recent help and all of your help in the past. We miss you dearly.
OK, next Lodge Work Day is Tuesday, July 5th at 9AM. I will be in St. Louis at the MooseConvention and will not be able to get you all set up and working!! I’m sure I will be able to find areplacement to motivate you. Thanks.Jean Lestanguet
I would like to thank everyone who helped with Fathers DayBrunch. It was a great turn out. With out all of you working together it would not have happen.Thank You AgainFraternally YoursDella Taylor Chairmen
