Dear Friends, Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Ohio, California… These are just a few of the places some of our mem-bers will be visiting this month! Summer is upon us, and that brings a slower pace and often va-cations for our members. Because our attendance is traditionally low, some of our regular events will take a break in July, including the Welcome Coffee and Luncheon. However, many of the in-dividual groups will continue to meet. Check with your committee and club chairs to find out if you’re meeting! Even though we won’t have a board meeting in July, many of us will be busy planning events for the fall! One of which is the Fall Social, Diamonds on the Dock of the Bay. The Social Committee began selling tickets at the June luncheon. (Look for more information in the Sanddollar and on the website.) It’s going to be a dazzling event, which will also serve as the official kick-off for our Diamond Celebration – 60 years of NNL in Corpus Christi. That’s right! NNLCC will turn 60 in 2016. We are currently forming a committee to help plan events and surprises for 2016. If you are interested in helping with this committee, please let me know! I’d like to begin meeting this summer to start brainstorming. There’s so much to do in our Sparkling City by the Sea! Whether you go to the beach, attend a Hooks game, dine on our fabulous seafood, or stroll along the Bay this summer, I hope that eve-ryone will continue to reach out to ladies in our community who may be in need of some fun and friendship. Invite them to the August Coffee, Luncheon, or Fall Social! Enjoy your summer break, and I’ll see you again in August! Blessings,
Kim Woodall P.S. As you may have heard, the Corpus Christi Town Club has closed. Rebecca Smith has secured Katz21 for the remainder of our 2015 Luncheons. Watch the website for more information.

Sunshine Notes by Nicole Carroll
Make sure you sign your Sunshine notes.
Barb Sweeney just wanted to say how grateful she is for finding NNL. “The wonderful friends I have made has made moving to Corpus Christi a great experience.” Kim Woodall would like to announce that Friends of Bacchus has an opening for two more people (or one
couple). Contact Kim if you are interested in joining this fun group!
Pam Legvold has her grandkids here for the summer. Pam says it is a hectic, fast-pace time, but she, and her husband Rick, love it! They keep them busy which is also good for them. She also said she enjoyed the luncheon even more than usual since the Mah Jongg club was highlighted this month. She invited any mem-ber who has an interest in playing or learning the game to give her a call. “It’s easier than it looks!” Sylvia Whitworth, and her husband Jim visited friends in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. Then they boarded a ship at Seattle to visit Juneau, capital of Alaska, where they went whale watching. Next came Ketchikan, An-chorage, Alaska’s largest city, and Homer where she visited a college roommate. Then it was on to Kodiak Island, where Jim saw his Coast Guard station from 50 years ago, Sitka and finally to Victoria, Canada. Terrie Bodine says “It’s finally here!” Her husband, Shawn, has had his last day of work at Flint Hills Re-sources and they are preparing to get in their RV and get on the road. They’ll head to Florida first to visit Terrie’s aunt in The Villages, then head up the east coast visiting friends in North Carolina, Tennessee, Penn-sylvania, New Hampshire, Connecticut and if they have time they will visit NNL member, Deborah Hernandez, in Alabama. They are very excited to start this new adventure. Fran Simmons-Chmura, and her husband Ron, are travelling to San Francisco for 10 days in mid july. They will be there to support Fran’s daughter Angie, who will be participating in the Avon Breast Cancer walk in San Francisco. They will also be spending time with other family and friends and will watch Fran’s grand-daughter, Kylie play in her Travel Softball League. Kelly Chiles is announcing that her 29-year-old daughter has a new boyfriend that they love!! She says she has prayed for this for a long time. She also has a name of a person who installs gutters if you are in need of a person who is reasonable and does a great job. Contact Kelly to get his name.
New Neighbors League is so lucky to be welcoming back Nan Pillinger. Nan was actually a member here in Corpus in 1965! She returned to us from Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas last year. Her home state is Illinois. Nan is a retired speech therapist. now lives here with her husband, Barry, who is also retired. While a member in 1965, Nan was chosen, “Member of the Month.” She loves crossword puzzles, movies and shopping . Let’s all get together and wel-come Nan back to NNL!!!!

When hardships come: illness, loss of loved one, stress
over a trying situation; whatever it might be, WE will be
there to pray for you, send a word of encouragement, and
even hand deliver some baked goods to your door. WHY?
Because we care! Please contact Beth Turcotte preferably
by phone or by email at [email protected] if you are
interested in being a part of this club or if you or someone
you know is in need. Remember, you do not have to feel alone
in your journey.
PLEASE NOTE: We will make every effort to respect the privacy
of our friend in need. If a request is received for prayers, positive
thoughts, food or other assistance, the Chair will verify with the
friend in need that it is okay to send out an e-mail or message.
Unless a friend in need verifies it is okay to share basic
information, then very little detailed information will be given
when the Circle Chair contacts our members with a request to
help our friend. This way, we have made every effort to respect
that persons privacy, if she so prefers.

Circle of Caring
John Himes, husband of longtime member and NNL friend Dottie Himes, was admitted to Spohn Shoreline Hospital recently
with very serious health issues. We do not have lots of details, but apparently his condition is so critical that Dottie has left her
job and is anticipating an extended hospitalization and period of care /treatments.
Please keep Dottie, John and their family in your thoughts and prayers. For further information, please contact Victoria
Shirley. Dottie would appreciate cards and maybe email messages; but it is likely that her phone time is quite limited, so we
suggest holding off on calls right now. Victoria will keep us notified of further developments, needs, and/or information and
will assure Dottie and John that our hearts and love are with them.
Joe McElroy, husband of Charlotte, died recently. Charlotte is a long-time member of NNL and Eaters Unlimited. A memorial
service was held at the Kings Crossing Church of Christ. Notes, thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.
Liz Gordon had successful surgery in June and is grateful for the prayers and support she is receiving. Keep them coming!
