Transcript of July, 2010 Letter from the Presidenteoc.wildapricot.org/Resources/Member Documents/Connect...
GOD BLESS AMERICA! I love the United
States of America, the Land of the Free and
the Home of the Brave. This is the month of
July, the month in which we celebrate our
freedom and the men and women who fight to
make and keep us free. I give them HONOR
in this EWI Connect for fighting and serving. I
have family in the military today and some
that have fought in previous wars and the sac-
rifices that they have made are so worthy of
recognition. I hope that you feel the same way.
Many of you may have loved ones that have
served or are serving and some that may have
even given their lives. You see, nothing is really free – freedom
comes at a price. Please join us on July 13th as we celebrate and
thank our Armed Forces for their service to our country. It is going to
be a wonderful meeting.
Wow! Didn’t Anthony Munoz knock it out of the ballpark for our
June Executives Luncheon! We had 98 present for the luncheon. I am
told that it was the largest number that we have had at a meeting so
far. The food was delicious, and I have heard nothing but good
things about it all. Thank you to each of you for all that you are doing
to make EWI such a success in Chattanooga. I knew when I first
joined this organization that EWI could rock Chattanooga and I think
that we are.
Remember the date: the Reading Rally is going to be on September
17th this year. Please plan now to block off some time to come and
be a part of this very worthwhile program.
MAKE IT A GREAT MONTH!
Your Chapter President,

PHILANTHROPY OPPORTUNITY FOR JULY
If you would like to help the Chattanooga
military families, as well as the troops of C
-Troop 1-108th Infantry, please refer to
the list on the following page.
Thank you to Henry Rosenquist who has
volunteered to handle shipping the items
to ensure that we meet the mailing re-
quirements (see below). Money will also
be appreciated and will be used to cover
the shipping costs. Also, if you would like
to bring cards to say “THANK YOU,”
please bring those to the July 13 meeting.
Mailing Instructions:
*Put any item that could leak or melt or which is scented in a leak-proof zip-sealed bag!
*Use a sturdy corrugated, brown Kraft box, as free of other markings as possible.
*Fill all extra space with foam peanuts, bubble wrap, popcorn
*Double tape all seams with strong packing or shipping tape. Make sure you have a strip going around all sides.
*Fill out a "Customs Declaration and Dispatch Note" at the Post Office. Briefly list the contents & underestimate the value to discourage
thieving. In the upper left corner write "Operation Military Pride" with your complete return address so they know it's safe to open (or it
might get tossed)! In the bottom left corner write If the person to whom this box is addressed has been redeployed, please keep the box
and share it with your unit.
The post office will supply you with free flat rate boxes if you inform them that it is going to one of our military troops. If I remember
correctly, the flat rate to send the box is between $10-$15.
Remember, this is “in-kind” participation. You are not obligated to
bring items unless you so desire. All contributions are deeply appreciated.

I want to thank all my EWI friends for the prayers during and following my dad’s lung transplant surgery (and re-transplant). He had many complications followed by many blessings. As of today, he is moving out of ICU onto the transplant floor where he will be for the next 6-8 weeks. His body is ac-cepting the new lungs and we are very thankful for the donors that came available to us. We are also thankful for the excellent team of doctors, surgeons and nurses at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida that having been working around the clock to help him fight off pneumonia and pain. It truly is a blessing and a miracle of God that he is with us today. He is well on his way to recovery now! I strongly encourage anyone that may be interested in becoming an organ donor to visit http://www.donatelifetn.org/ .

Kathy Lee
Heartland Payment Systems opened its doors in 1997. Today the company processes more than 11 million transactions a day and more than $80 billion in transactions a year. Heartland is the 4th largest payment processor in the United States and 9th in the world.
Heartland provides businesses with debit/credit card processing, online pay-ments, check processing, remote deposits, payroll, Marketing Cards, and more. Heartland Payment Systems is known for fair, fully disclosed pricing and for em-powering merchants to take control of their payments processing costs. Its
commitment to merchants is further defined by The Merchants Bill of Rights which levels the playing field for business owners by identifying 10 essential rights that can help you achieve greater suc-cess-from your right to know the fees you pay for every transaction to your right to have live cus-tomer support 24/7/365.
Kathy Lee started with Heartland in October, 2008 as a Relationship Manager. She tries to educate each merchant whether they are ready to do business with her or not. In an industry that has histori-cally been known for taking advantage of merchants by making statements hard to read and hiding fees, she uncovers those fees and helps merchants be able to ask the right questions. With Heart-lands’ full disclosure policy, Kathy feels good about being able to help merchants.
Kathy moved to Chattanooga over 30 years ago from Atlanta. She has 2 step-sons, 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren, ages 7, 4, 15 months, and 4 months. In July, 2009, she went to Las Vegas and “married (never say never) a wonderful guy”, and now has 2 wonderful step daughters, too. She and Rob plan to retire on the lake in Tennessee. They love being outside whether it is grilling out, walking or just taking the grandkids to throw rocks in the water. She says she feels truly blessed with her family and her new husband.
Kathy was a member of EWI back in the early 90’s. Being a single mom with kids very active in sports and other activities, she had to give it up. Years later, Carolyn Stringer and Catherine Cox encouraged her to come visit again. When she visited, she says she realized what a great group of women it was and saw an energy and connection that she had not seen in a while. The rest is his-tory…..
Kathy Lee, we enjoy the energy you bring to us, too.
