That’s right - trip apps are included in this newsletter!! This year’s Spring Bike Ride was successful once again, as twenty-one riders rode the

Richland B & O Trail. The weather proved to be nearly perfect – clear skies, not too

hot, and a little breezy.

The group continued to be slow and laid-back, with no one appearing too anxious to get

started. Many didn’t arrive until 9:25 a.m., but I think we were all on the trail by 9:45

a.m. Everyone enjoyed riding at their own pace. When the faster riders were tired of

hanging back with my girlfriend and me, they took off. Several rode north to Mansfield

and back before lunch. I heard others enjoyed the ice cream in Bellville (a favorite

stop on this trail). All in all, it was a pretty boring ride for reporting purposes: no

crashes, no injuries, and no exciting tales to tell.

After the bike ride, we had a picnic. Aside from the fact that the cook (me) had some

difficulty with the propane tanks, grilled burgers, brats, and good food were enjoyed by

all - in addition to a great social time.

It was great to see many familiar faces, as well as some new faces for the ride. Thanks

to everyone who participated, helped clean up, and once again made the outing an

enjoyable one. Bonnie Schaaf

Who said there are not diehard Jimmy Buffet Fans? When the skies opened up, and Gary & I had to abort our spot at Lock 3, I thought the night might be a washout …….NOT. The rain only lasted until around 7pm. Then, we were back out again awaiting “Blood, Sweat & Beers” to start playing.

In the distance we saw some familiar faces - Jamey Ross and Sheryl Trumphour. We sat around, and listened to Blood, Sweat & Beers, the first band. Then, “Gypsy’s in the Palace” came on to the delight of everyone. The crowd was growing in numbers, and the sun was peeking out. More familiar faces appeared – John & Flo Fiehn, and then Mark & Joan Murphy. It was turning out to be a wonderful night. “Gypsies in the Palace” did not disappoint, putting on a great show. Then, we ran into some past ski Club members – Doreen Tatum, and her sister Denise & husband Barry, and the past president of CMSC Mike Niebecker. It was a great night. The weather turned out to be good. Sorry you had to miss such a great concert. Hope to see you at the next one on July 31st!
