In 1990, Roberts was nominated for Best Supporting Actress and she received a Golden Globe for the role. Roberts becomes a successful woman in the movie world and many spectaculars want to know how she deals with her new found fame. “I’m just a girl from a little town in Georgia who had this giant, absurd dream,” said Roberts.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Nov. 8 - Julia Fiona Roberts was the small town girl who

lived the Hollywood dream.

Roberts got her first acting break in 1988, when she appeared in two films “Mystic Pizza”

and “Satisfaction.” These films presented her to a new audience that instantly fell in love with

her.

The following year, Roberts was featured in “Steel Magnolias,” as a young bride who had

diabetes. In 1990, Roberts was nominated for Best Supporting Actress and she received a Golden

Globe for the role.

Roberts becomes a successful woman in the movie world and many spectaculars want to

know how she deals with her new found fame.

“I’m just a girl from a little town in Georgia who had this giant, absurd dream,” said

Roberts.

Roberts was born on Oct. 28, 1967 in Smyrna, GA., As a child, Roberts wanted to be

veterinarian because of her love for animals.

Instead, Roberts decided to study journalism. Yet, Roberts chose to purse acting, when

she saw her brother Eric Roberts achieving some success in Hollywood.

A cast of fans wanted to know when Roberts realized that she was a famous movie star.

“The first time I felt I was famous was when I went to the movies with my mom,” said

Roberts. “I had gone to the loo, and someone in the bathroom said in a very loud voice, “Girl in

stall No. 1, were you in Mystic Pizza (1988)?” I paused and I said, “Yeah, that was me.”

Roberts biggest hit came in the signature movie “Pretty Woman” in 1990, which she

played a beautiful prostitute. In 1991, Roberts got an Oscar Nomination for Best Actress in a

leading role. Audiences adored Roberts as the gorgeous prostitute.

In 1997, Roberts played in the movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” as a woman who falls

in love with her best friend after he says he’s engaged. Roberts’s character attempts to sabotage

the wedding which is in three weeks.

Roberts’s fans were excited that she used her skills and talents in “My Best Friend’s Wed-

ding.” Fans fell madly in love with Roberts in this romantic comedy which viewers expressed

vocally.

“Some of her physical comedy bits are reminiscent of Lucille Ball,” said Raymond Chan-

dler.

The following year, Roberts starred as an unemployed single mother who becomes a le-

gal assistant in “Erin Brockovich.” Her character almost single-handily takes down the California

power company that is accused of polluting the city’s water supply.

Most fans appreciated Roberts’s performance in “Erin Brockovich.” Fans were uplifted

by her character and the story.

In 2001, Roberts won several awards including the Oscar Award for Best Actress in “Erin

Brockovich.” The motion picture was the most successful film in her career; it was nominated for

42 awards and it won 28.

Roberts married, cameraman Daniel Moder, at their ranch home in Taos, New Mexico on

July 20, 2002. Bruce Willis was the only celebrity at her wedding. Roberts and Model are par-

ents of twins and a young son.

Many audiences believe that Roberts has one of the best jobs and fans wonder how she

feels about being a celebrity in Hollywood.

“I’m just an ordinary person who has an ordinary job,” said Roberts.

Roberts and her husband Moder have three children. Roberts is co-starring in the film

“Larry Crowne” with Tom Hanks which will be released in theaters in 2011.

Roberts is the first actress to reach the $20 million mark salary for “Erin Brockovich.”

She has become one of the highest paid actresses in the world.

Roberts was chosen as one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” by People

Magazine in 2005. Roberts also appeared on the cover of May 9, 2005 issue. According to Hol-

lywood Reporter’s annual power list, Roberts is one of the top female stars from 2002 to 2006.

On February 2007, Roberts’s movies had grossed more than $2 billion at the U.S box of-

fice, making her one of the highest paid female actresses of all time.

In 2009, Roberts refused to star in the movie “The Proposal” unless Disney offered her a

higher salary. Eventually, Disney hired Sandra Bullock for less money and the big screen film

became one of the highest grossing romantic comedies ever.

In 2010, Roberts returned to film appearing in “Valentine’s Day,” a movie about couples

and singles in Los Angeles, breaking up and making up based on the expectations of Valentine’s

Day. In her next film, “Eat Pray Love” Roberts plays as a woman who is searching for what she

wants in life.
