Buckinghamshire County Council School Improvement Service Julia Hursthouse School Improvement Consultant [email protected] Julia has been a qualified nurse for 17 years and she specialises in delivering Sex & Relationship education (SRE) training to teaching staff, SLT, governors, parents/carers and pupils/students, cross phase and setting. This looks at policy and curriculum showing how to spiral and build on prior learning, and also at using assessment, recording & reporting on SRE, to improve quality of teaching and learning for all pupils. This can be applied across the curriculum and improves confidence and quality of teaching in all areas. Julia is a Registered Nurse (RNC), a Sexual Health/Contraception lead nurse, a Brook Sexual Health Nurse and has a Diploma in Child Health (Dip H). She has also led a very successful National PSHE CPD programme (accredited via Roehampton Uni), for teachers, nurses and other professionals, for the last four years. Her support for PSHE teaching includes in-school support for team teaching within PSHE and a fully certified PSHE CPD course or a taster for the course. She can offer schools support on how to plan and run a successful PSHE parents evening or health week/day, can offer Wellbeing INSET training for staff and support schools in addressing sensitive issues - such as bespoke puberty/sexual health parent & pupil/student evenings.
