Her use of vivid colours, combined with the influence of music, produce vibrant and dynamic paintings. Julia graduated in Fine Art at Brighton University and has successfully exhibited in the UK, Europe and America. Julia regularly exhibits with Art* at the Affordable Art Fair and many of her paintings are in private collections. Julia’s expressive abstract sunset painting “Far Out in the Red Sky”, a tribute to David Bowie, has just been featured in the January 2016 edition of Aesthetica magazine. Her latest exhibition in February 2016 was a solo show at Hammersmith Town Hall entitled “Loving the Alien - A tribute to David Bowie” with paintings inspired by and titled from his music. Artists Statement: “I am inspired by nature and music and my paintings are concerned with the reflective aspects of natural beauty as realised in water, landscape, light and pure colour. I paint from memory rather than life and I always listen to music when painting and feel that this has a strong influence on the finished work. I always title my paintings from song lyrics to give them an extra dimension. My latest series of abstract sunsets are inspired by the light, colour and reflections on water and I’ve chosen song lyrics from Neil Young, Crosby Stills & Nash, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and David Bowie, amongst others to title them.
