In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. But the earth had no shape. It was empty,

covered with only darkness and water.

Then the Spirit of God hovered over the water and God said, ‘Let there be light.’

Then God divided the light from the darkness and He called the light the daytime and the darkness He

called night time. This was the first day.

God divided the waters below from the waters above to make the sky and the sea. This was the

second day.

After this God said, "Let the water under the heaven be gathered together in one place,

And God saw that it was good.
