It has been my pleasure to serve full-time at Wes-

ley Woods since 1999. As I complete the hiring of

summer staff for 2015 I am reminded the role the J

- Staff program has played in so many lives. Al-

most 50% of the staff we hire in 2015 will be for-

mer J-Staff.

As a part of the J-Staff your young person will be

outside having fun, learning responsibility, com-

pleting tasks, growing spiritually and witnessing to

others. They will be challenged to grow and ma-

ture by an experienced leadership team. The J-

Staff program is intentionally programmed to raise

leaders for today and tomorrow. Below you will

find the primary goals of the program listed.

1. BE SAFE, HAVE FUN– we seek to create a

fun environment where J-Staff are physically

and emotionally safe. We want to encourage

them to grow spiritually, but recognize the

importance of them experiencing their faith at

the right pace and place.

2. PRIORITIZE– we want the J-staff to have fun

and make friends, but we want everything to

be a reflection of God’s presence and call in

our lives. God FIRST!

3. GROW– we want our J-Staff to walk away

from the summer more confident, spiritually

stronger and with new skills.

Blessings,

Deke Rider– Site Director

When is training? What kinds of things do J-Staff do?

~ Ministry Team ~ Wrangler Helper

~ Kitchen ~ Counselor

~ Pack-out ~ Lifeguard (16 yrs. & up)

* L.I.T. and Jr. Staff Rookie are the trainings for those who

have never been on J-Staff before. The only difference be-

tween them is the listed age for registration.

* In Jr. Staff PRO you spend half the week doing outpost

training, such as building fires, canoeing, leading Bible study.

The other half of the week will be spent being a “buddy”

with EP camp.

How do you become a

part of J-Staff ?

~ First of all, you register for one or two of the train-

ings that are listed. You can do so by going to our

website and registering there. The website will also

give more detailed descriptions of each of the trainings.

~ After the training, you will be mailed a sheet asking

what weeks you are available, which you will fill out

and return. The J-Staff Coordinator will combine eve-

ryone’s schedules to assign at least two of your

requested weeks.

~ The weeks you are scheduled are determined by

skills shown in training, availability, and needs that

have to be met during those specific weeks.
