Kerala Ayurveda opened its U.S. doors in 2006 and is part Kerala Ayurveda Ltd (KAL), a full spectrum Ayurvedic company spanning academies, products, research, clinics, hospitals, resorts and services.

KAL has a successful operating record of over 70 years. It was established by the renowned Ayurveda Acharya, the late KGK Panicker, on the banks of the Periyar, and is one of the most reliable names in Ayurveda healthcare today. KAL draws upon the rich heritage of Kerala - where Ayureda has been most well-preserved in India.

The trip concludes with 5 days at the award-winning AyurvedaGram Heritage Wellness Centre for relaxing Ayurvedic treatments & lifestyle programs, plus local cultural attractions in Bangalore.

A Kerala native from an Ayurvedic family, “Dr. J” is a master Ayurvedic practitioner, having served the majority of his career as a doctor in Indian clinics, including Kerala Aurveda’s award-winning resort AyurvedaGram. In addition to overseeing Kerala Ayurveda’s Academy & Wellness Center in Fremont, CA as Director, he heads the Faculty and Practitioner teams, conducting weekly consultations, courses, workshops and internships.

Classically trained and deeply-versed in the Ayurvedic root texts, the Vedas, Dr. J will ground the journey to India with philosophy, history and stories from his experiences growing up in Kerala and practicing Ayurveda.

Tour Ayurveda from seed to table While staying at The Health Village, you’ll observe special treatment demos and experience some of the Ayurvedic treatments yourself.

We’ll tour the renowned herbal gardens, home to over 1,000 species of herbs. You will learn about the features of various live plants and their medicinal applications as you observe, touch and smell the herbs, soaking in their sacred properties through all of your senses!

The Kerala Ayurveda Ltd tour will conclude at our Research & Development Wing & Manufacturing Factory, where you’ll be shown how our cutting-edge research team formulates and tries new herbal remedies before the Ayurvedic medicines are produced in large quantities.

Cochin (Kochi)The striking port city of Cochin, or Kochi is a tourist’s paradise! Flanked by the Western Ghats on the east and the majestic Arabian Sea in the west, Kochi occupies a very strategic location and has been a significant trading zone and attractive tourist destination since time immemorial. The tradition and reputation of this enchantingly quaint port city has maintained to date with its ancient churches, cathedrals, temples and forts.

Discover the natural beauty of Ayurveda’s landscapeFrom Kumarakom to Thekkady and Munnar, we’ll hit the road in the Kerala countryside to observe the local landscape and natural wonders, including Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and Periyar National Park, home to an impressive diversity of species.

In Thekkady, we’ll visit a spice plantation and shop for fresh and potent local herbs & spices.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions1. Do I need any knowledge of Ayurveda?You are not required to have former knowledge of Ayurveda prior to this trip. If you would like to study Ayurvedic principles prior to your trip, please contact us and we can assist you: [email protected]

2. When do I need to register by?Early bird registation ends January 31, 2017 and all registration closes April 15, 2017. We recommend you make your $250 deposit as soon as possible to secure your spot and help us confirm final accomodations more swiftly.

3. If my plans change, are refunds available?Refunds are available for the full amount of fees through April 15, 2017. Beginning April 16, 2017, the $250 deposit is non-refundable and the remainder of the balance paid to-date will be refunded. Beginning May 1, 2017 refund availability will depend on accommodation booking status and is subject to change.

4. Are flights included? How are flights booked?Airfare to and from India is not included in the program fee (Transport to and from Indian airports is included.) Attendees are required to book their own airfare. Please refrain from booking flights until our program minimum is met.

5. When do I need to depart by?Your departure flight should be booked for the latest: July 22nd for you to arrive in Cochin, India by July 23rd (the earliest checkin time at The Health Village is 6am.) You may arrive earlier and stay at The Health Village at an additional cost. Please refrain from booking flights until our program minimum is met.

6. Do I need a travel visa?India offers tourists travelling from the U.S. a visa on arrival – an electronic Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA). You will have to apply for this minimum 4 days, maximum of 30 days prior to your arrival. This is a single-entry visa and is valid for 30 days from the arrival date. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in India. Learn more at the U.S. Passports & International Travel website (travel.state.gov)

7. Should I get any vaccines?Kerala Ayurveda does not offer medical advice. We recommend speaking to your primary care physician before deciding upon vaccines. For up-to-date information, you can consult the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website (www.cdc.gov).

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions8. What will the weather be like?The weather will be warm and humid the majority of time, with the average recorded temperature of 78 degrees. We recommend packing light cotton clothing that is breathable, and a light wrap or coat for eveings and the slightly cooler Munnar mountains. In some sites, modest clothing is required - covering shoulders & legs. Walking shoes are a must, and full-length trousers are recommended for visits to the natural sites.

9. Will I need local currency?Most places will accept credit/debit payments; however the smaller venues and street side shopping may require local currency. There is an exchange center in the Cochin Airport, and you will come across several additional places during the trip that will exchange currency. Our team and the staff at The Health Village and Ayurvedagram are there to help you out!

10. Will I be sharing a room?Program fee is based on double occupancy, though limited single occupancy is available for an additional $500 - deadline to register is April 30, 2017.

11. Where will we eat and what is the food like?You’ll experience the tastes of Southern India during your trip with local foods included in your program fee. During the Health Village and AyurvedaGram stays, meals will be provided by the onsite restaurant. Lunch will be served on the houseboat ride from Allepy to Thekkady. Meals in Kumarokam, Thekkady and Munnar will be provided at the hotel and local restaurants.
