very well attended by the members of the different choirs from St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and invited sub-parish officers. Among those who were present were choir members the Holy Cross Parish (Dambana ng Banal na Krus), J. P. Rizal, Makati City, St. Joseph The Worker Parish, Enrique Street, Palanan, and Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 3/F Powerplant Mall, Rockwell, Makati City. The speaker divided the module into 3 parts: Theory, Rhythm and Note Reading that began at 9:30 am and concluded at 12:10 pm. Moderate meals were ordered by the parish office personnel and were served to the participants during the 20-minute

break at 11:00 am.

“Sir Edward” is a wonderful teacher – patient, informative, clear, gentle yet firm, respectful and helpful! He presented a laudable keeper on balancing information from music theory to useful/workable rhythm calculations, glossary of musical terms, and voice classifications to sensible Solfeggio application.

The Solfeggio session is just one of the upcoming technical developmental program plans of the Music Ministry, side by side with spiritual formation talks to be given by guest priest facilitators. A choir music

Notes: Solfeggio, also called solfège sol-fa, solfedge, or solfa) is a pedagogical solmization technique for the teaching of sight-singing in which each note of the

score is sung to a special syllable, called a solfège syllable (or “sol-fa syllable”).

*Rev. Fr. Leonilo C. Mangussad, MSM is the Director of ILM, the institute offers Basic Course on Liturgical Music. This course is highly recommended for

all music coordinators, choir masters and members that aims at training and developing church musicians to equip them serve in the parishes as liturgical

musicians. Fr. Mangussad is also the Parish Priest at the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace (Our Lady of Edsa), Ortigas Avenue.

the United States. She was Manager of Blue Shield of California in the U.S. She said she used to be very strict especially with her children. Now she has changed and has become a little lenient.

She said, “ Hindi na ako masyado mahigpit. Before I was very strict, naiinis sila. With PREX bumait ako ng 40 percent. I have become more prayerful, going to mass everyday. I always call on the Holy Spirit. Makukuha lahat sa dasal. Our problem with PREX is how to maintain and sustain the membership growth. Recruitment is a problem . We have to make sure that those who confirmed will attend and finish the 3-day PREX seminar proper. As over-all coordinator I make sure everything goes smoothly .’’

Tet Jarvina. Another tower of strength of PREX is Sis Tet who has done wonders in managing her time between work as fulltime corporate manager and very hands on as PREX Secretariat head. She is also a lector/commentator in the Parish. She is the one who sends all of us gentle reminders through our cellphones with her text messages about all PREX activities. She texts us reminding us to attend the Thursday Holy Hour after the 6:30 evening mass.

She said, “I used to be an OC(obsessive-compulsive) individual.Everything has to be planned, to do my job to the highest standards. In the process I tend to hurt other people. With PREX I am more accepting of people, able to help and assist people to level up. It’s not like lowering my standard. Spiritually, I have longer time praying and observe my breviary prayers at dawn, noon, afternoon and evening . I can say the PREX Core is composed of people who have very strong personalities , a combination of our individual strengths. Sis Christie Vazquez introduced me to the breviary prayers. With PREX I have learned to be able to be more understanding, be more tolerant. I am

lucky to have an understanding and supportive husband and two loving children.

Christie Vazquez (Core Group in charge of Food and Finance): According to this feisty lady who is also lead coordinator of the Lectors and Commentators Ministry, PREX paved the way for her spiritual journey. She joined Batch 7 in 2005. She said, ``Sobrang Masaya ako sa PREX. Di ko alam bakit.” As head of Food and Finance, it is my problem to serve delicious and filling food during the three-day PREX proper with another two spill-over days for Talk 12. In addition we have the simple agape after the first Thursday Holy Hour of each graduating class. My group, the volunteer servers, cooks and marketers composed of some 12-15 PREX members are in charge of the three dinners, two lunches, one breakfast and four snacks during those three days. As head of Finance , soliciting sponsors for those meals are always challenging.” But according to her, this batch of Class 29-12) is “sobrang masaya sa batch na to. Parang feeling ko very enthusiastic ang lahat. Lahat good comments and maraming nag-sponsor.”

Irene Tan, coordinator of Batch 28-11. Sis Irene who has her own boutique business joined PREX in October last year. While acknowledging she is still in the process of becoming a fully renewed person spiritually, she commented, “I’ll get there in due time.” She said it’s only with PREX that she was able to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation after a long time. With PREX she was able to see the underlying goodness that God has done to make her a better person despite the bad things that happened in her life. With PREX there is a sense of belonging to a family. “I feel welcome and I know they will help if I need one. Feeling ko mababait sila. Now I am more prayerful and go to mass almost daily.’’
