Vision for JGCD

• Goals To be a most influential and respected journal in aerospace

engineering Surpass and maintain the lead over the IEEE Transactions on

Aerospace Electronic Systems in SCI impact factor to become the highest-ranked research journal in Aerospace Engineering (For 2012 the JGCD had an impact factor of 1.27 vs. 1.29 for TAES)

• Implementation Plan Seek to further increase the submission of high-quality papers Identify and recruit AEs with strong technical background in

targeted/emerging areas Publish focused special sections on advanced technology

achievements from high-profile programs

Vision for JGCD

• Implementation Plan Continued Publish papers from rigorous studies on technology needs,

assessments, and trends Appoint 2 senior Associate Editors to assist the EIC in the

endeavor of enhancing JGCD’s reach, influence, and impact

• Publications Committee Action Consideration of JGCD to become a monthly publication

– Annual submissions (630) support a monthly publication– Currently with 300 pages, each JGCD issue has become too thick– Although a monthly publication may put pressure on production, but will

contribute to the increase of the impact factor
