LXX DAILY SATURDAY, AUGUST 4th

The Euroconcert of this session was a viv-id example of how one of the fundamen-tal elements of International Sessions (IS) should take place. In order to add an extra dimension to how Euroconcerts are usu-ally described, it was decided to introduce a Jury. Five carefully chosen experts – Ar-

The Chairs’ team – “Four chord songs”This performance was definitely amongst the best. Gráinne (IE) surprised everyone by being the strict teacher of a choir which presented a medley of lines from many popular tracks, such as, “I’m Yours” by Ja-son Mraz, “Poker Face” by Lady GaGa and “Barbie Girl” by Aqua. The act was catchy and very dear to everyone, since it was brought to us by people that have invested so much time and energy in this session over the last week.

Myrna van Dijk (NL) & Alma Apt (NL) – “Ain’t no mountain high enough”Both girls addressed us in a very profes-sional way, managing to please not only those fond of jazz music, but, in fact, eve-ryone.

Julia Fahy (IE) & Raasika Gaugler (CH) – “Fast car”Two lovely ladies from ECON managed to attract the audience with a simple, yet sweet performance. Both Julia’s vocal abilities, as well as Raasika’s talent of playing the guitar, made the difference.

Ginger Jones (FI) – “Oceania”Indisputably, this was one of the most courageous acts ever to be presented at IS. Ginger Jones provided the audience with a vocal performance which definitely met the high standards that songs of Björk require, and he definitely surprised the audience with his high heels and make-up.

Andres Lestal (EE) & Anton Rumyant-sev (RU) & Kasia Faszczewka (PL) – “snow”This song definitely enhanced the rock profile this Euroconcert had. According to the guitarist of this triplet, Anton, a good amount of beer beforehand would make the audience think that they really perform like the Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP). Even without that, Kasia, Anton and An-dres were so good that we truly felt a pity to not have attended the concert RHCP held in Tallinn on the 30th of July.

OLYMPIC UPDATEby Ilias -Marios Oikonomou (GR)

Michael Phelps collected his first gold medal and 3rd in total for this Olympics in Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay Final. The most important fact, though, is that he reached the milestone of 20 Olympic Medals, which is a record in the Olympic history.

In Table Tennis, Li Xiaoxia (China) easily beat her friend Ning Ding (China) 4-1, also winning the second table tennis gold medal for her country at this year’s Olympics.

Finally, in Men’s Basketball, USA record a new “high score” last night, winning Nige-ria by an amazing 156-73. They set a new record in most points ever scored in a game (156), biggest difference (+82), most points scored during one half (78) and finally most points scored by a player (37, Carmelo An-thony).

Yesterday I was enjoying a late breakfast (a herring, smoked salmon and caviar trifecta) on the Meriton terrace with a panoramic view of Tallinn, when a stream of young-sters disturbed my calm.

Noisy crowds look much better on the cover of a broadsheet (particularly when they’re trampling an authoritarian regime), but this assemblage was bearable. Some wore their high street suits less noticeably than others, bow ties were rife and the pearls were imitation, but I kept looking and listening.

The chitchat about airlines and railway sta-tions was at a level of sophistication much higher than I would have expected from a group that sings about ponies instead of riding them. That being said, their Miles & More accounts are still looking rather blue.

Observing this peculiar gathering, it oc-curred to me how rarely I give advice spe-cifically to women – and how much they need it. Here are some smart-casual sum-mer strategies:

Chiffon is one of my favorite materials, would it be possible to enjoy the sight with-out also having a full view of your black bra?

We can see that you can’t walk. We can see your blisters. We can see your skirt riding up as you struggle to move. What we can’t see is where they’re from – H&M or Zara?

Keep the den down. Thick tights are for cold weather, and look incongruous with light summer dresses. Or, depending on the occasion, ditch them altogether: it’s bold, but what are peep toes for?

DAILY TALENT OF TALLINN ISby Sandra Harney (IE) & Jonathan Engel (DE)

Tallinn’s talent of today is our tall Roma-nian friend Moise. He is a skilled card magi-cian who started to experiment with card tricks at the age of 14. Moise’s main goal is not to gain money and fame by beating his opposition in a card game, but he wants to cheat his opponent on a mental level. He already had a shot at success some time ago by impressing his audience by host-ing a magic show. Although Moise likes to astound people with his incredible magic tricks, he is still a normal guy, a business student at the University of Salford, Man-chester.

If you would like to give Moise the chance to convince you of his talents then check out his card tricks on the Tallinn Media’s Youtube channel!
