• Canada is a country occupying most of Northern America. It is the worlds 2nd largest country. Canada is 9,976,185 sq Km is size. Canada has had aboriginal people living there for millions of years, just like Australia. In the late 15th century British and French explorers settled on the Atlantic coast.

• In 1867 Canada was formed into 4 provinces. Canada now has ten provinces and three territories, and has the Queen as it’s head of state.

• The capital of Canada is Ottawa which is found in the province of Ontario.• Canada shares its borders with United States to the South and with Alaska

to the northwest• Canada has 2 languages English and French. • Canada most probably got its name from the word Kanata, meaning

village or settlement. In 1535 locals were trying to direct an explorer called Jacques Cartier to the village of Standalone. Cartier used the word CANADA to refer to the village and the hole area. By 1545 books and maps began to call the whole region CANADA.

• In 2006 Canada's population was 3162,897, about 75% of Canada's population lives within 150 km from American border.

• The currency in Canada is the dollar, 100 cents = 1 Canadian Dollar.
