JoSAA 2015- Joint Counselling for IITs & NITs Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is a combined initiative of Joint Admission Board (JAB) and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) in order to facilitate students with a common platform getting admission into IITs, ISM, NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs. Before 2015, both JAB and CSAB used to have their separated counselling procedures but for present academic session joint counselling will be conducted so that students can get admission to top most institutes of the nation using a single platform and practice of students to reserve multiple seats in counselling conducted by different agencies can be reduced. By the means of this article, we will try to explain the most basic information related to JoSAA to our readers. So let us start with the Eligibility of JoSAA: Eligibility: If a candidate wants to participate in JoSAA he need to fulfill some basic requirements depending upon the course in which he/she seeks admission. o For IIT & ISM: Candidate need to have cleared JEE Advanced 2015 along with securing minimum qualifying marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination. o For NIT, IIIT, GFTI & SFTI: Depending upon the course in which candidate want to get admission in, they need to have secured rank in JEE Main Paper 1 (for B.Tech/B.E.)/ Paper 2 (B.Arch./B.Planning) and securing minimum qualifying marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination is also required. Merit Lists: Depending upon the marks obtained by candidates in their respective exams, a total of 8 merit lists will be prepared. The names are as follow: 1. Common rank list (CRL) 2. OBC-NCL rank list 3. SC rank list 4. ST rank list 5. CRL-PwD rank list 6. OBC-NCL-PwD rank list 7. SC-PwD rank list 8. ST-PwD rank list

Preparation of Merit List: The procedure mentioned below will be followed while creating the JEE Advanced 2015 Rank List and JEE Main Rank List:

o JEE Advanced Rank List: The list will be published on June 18, 2015 and those candidates who appeared in both Paper 1 & 2 of JEE Advanced will be considered for the ranking.

The aggregate marks of Physics in JEE Advanced 2015 will be the sum of the marks obtained in Physics part of Paper 1 and Paper 2.

The same pattern will be followed in calculating marks obtained in other subjects as well.

Total marks in JEE Advanced will be the sum of marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

o JEE Main Rank List: The list will be made available on June 24, 2015. On the basis of candidate’s performance in JEE Main 2015 Paper-1 (B.E. /

B.Tech.) and Class 12 or equivalent examination’s result a set of eight rank lists will be made available.

Another set of eight rank lists will be released on the basis of applicant’s performance in JEE Main 2015 Paper-2 (B.Arch. / B.Planning) along with marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
