Joint anti encroachment drive by JMC, Traffic and
Executive Police
On the instructions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. Ramesh
Kumar (IAS) and Sr. Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Sh. Joginder Singh, a
comprehensive drive was jointly conducted by the special teams of JMC, Traffic Police
and Executive Police under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), JMC, Mrs.
Vinakshi Koul (KAS), SDPO Bakshi Nagar Sh. Varun Jandyal and Dy.SP (Traffic) Sh.
Sunny Gupta. Dy.SP Sh. Dev Raj and DTI Sh. Sandeep Mahajan. Revenue Officers Sh.
Parmod Kumar, Sh. Ashwani Sudan, Sh. Parveen Gupta , Sh. Sunil Gupta of
JMC, SHO’s of concerned police stations, Asstt. Enforcement Officer Sh. Madan Lal and
field staff of JMC also accompanied the drive.
The drive was conducted in the areas of Rehari chungi, Rehari colony,
Subash Nagar upto petrol pump. The drive was conducted against the illegal
encroachments caused by the shopkeepers, illegal hoardings, wrongly parked vehicles
and street vendors causing traffic congestion and obstruction to free movement of
pedestrian on footpaths. During the drive the team removed 2 truckloads of material
displayed by the shopkeepers in front of their shops and lifted 6 nos. of illegal rehries
plying without licence. The Jammu Municipal Corporation warned the shopkeepers and
encroachers not to cross their shutter line and not to encroach the footpaths which leads
to congestion and obstructions to the free movement of pedestrians.
The traffic police also lifted the wrongly parked vehicles on the roads and
challaned no. of vehicles violating the traffic rules and causing traffic congestion on the
roads and also issued instructions to violators to follow the guidelines of traffic and not
to park their vehicles wrongly on the roadsides.

JMC Conducts drive against illegal hoardings, illegal rehries/pharies,
encroachments of footpaths, polythene by shopkeepers, sanitation and other
issues
Today on 15.03.2018, a special drive was conducted on the instructions of
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS) in the Bahu
Fort area in connection with forthcoming holy Navratras. The drive was conducted under
the supervision of Secretary, JMC Mrs. Sunaina Sharma (KAS) and Assistant
Commissioner (Rev.), JMC, Mrs. Vinakshi Koul (KAS). Enforcement Officer Sh. Kamini
Kesar alongwith their enforcement team, Revenue Officers Sh. Parmod Sabharwal, Sh.
Ashwani Sudan and Sh. Sunil Gupta of JMC, team of concerned police station and
other field staff of JMC also accompanied the drive.
Drive was mainly focused on encroachments of footpaths, illegal
hoardings, illegal rehries/pharies, polythene by shopkeepers, sanitation and other issues
related to that area so that the forthcoming Navaratras Festival is celebrated in a
smooth way. Special team of JMC removed 4 truckloads of illegal hoardings, illegal
rehries/pharies and also removed encroachments from the footpath and pavements from
the area.
Jammu Municipal Corporation issued instructions to the shopkeepers of
Bahu Fort area to keep their goods within their shutter line in order to maintain smooth
flow of devotes to the holy shrine of Bawe Wali Mata Temple.
Jammu Municipal Corporation also appealed to the owners of illegal
advertisers to desist from installing hoardings without permission to avoid penal action
against them and vendors to ply their rehries only in the rehri zones established by
Jammu Municipal Corporation. The shopkeeper/vendors were also warned not to use
polythene as the Hon’ble High Court has banned the use of any kind of polythene.

Commissioner, JMC took review of sanitation scenario in Jammu City.
Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation took a
review of sanitation scenario in Jammu City during which he issued instructions to the
concerned Officer for taking steps for installation of composting machines in bulk
generator establishments like Hotels, Banquet and Fruit/Vegetable markets which would
help in minimizing the accumulation of waste and added that compost so generated will
also help the persons who associated with agriculture line.
He directed the concerned Officer to utilize the men and machinery available with
Corporation for maintaining proper sanitation conditions within the limits of Jammu
Municipal Corporation. He added that some wards shall be selected as model wards for
ensuring better scientific cleaning and its disposal including transportation after proper
segregation. He also directed the Health Officer to maintain proper attendance
of sanitation staff so that there can be no laxity in providing proper sanitation to the
inhabitants of the City.
He further stressed upon all the Officers to take sanitation of the City as a challenge
and come with a road map on their level so that same is deliberated and action is taken
on the actionable points and added that special focus shall be given to construction
Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) in different wards of JMC under Swachh Bharat
Mission (SBM) to get the areas falling within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal
Corporation open defecation free (ODF).
He appealed the general public through this medium to extend their helping hand
to Jammu Municipal Corporation in maintaining the proper sanitation and also to
achieve the goal of Swachh Bharat Mission and Smart City.
Among others Sh. Rishpal Singh (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A), Sh. Neeraj
Gupta(KAS), Chief Accounts Officer, Ms. Sunaina Sharma (KAS), Secretary, Ms. Vinakshi
Koul (KAS), Asstt. Commissioner (Rev.), Sh. Kushal Chand, Joint Commissioner (Works),
Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer, Sh. Tariq Raina, AEE (Transport), Sh. Amitabh
Manhas, AEE (Mech), were also participated in the meeting.
