Canberra Cares Canberrans are keeping our city’s heartbeat pumping in warm and wonderful ways through COVID-19. Here are just some of the ways that Canberrans are coming together, getting involved and keeping up the community spirit while physically distancing.

We’re all going on a Teddy Bear Hunt!

Across the world, people have placed teddy bears in their windows for people to spot during physically distanced walks. Suburbs across Canberra have joined the fun and teddy bears are dotted

everywhere, even in some reserves like the Hawker Pinnacle Reserve (look out for the instructions!). Some suburbs have even put together maps which allow people to pin the teddy bears they find.

Want to get out and about? Why not check out the www.natureplaycbr.org.au for ideas on how to make the most of the great outdoors. You can even download the Nature Play CBR Scavenger Hunt sheet to take with you on your adventures!

Reading the Needs of the Community - Street Libraries Street libraries have been springing up across Canberra for some years now and have become an even more important source of community connection, sharing and boredom busting during COVID-19. Many of the street libraries have adjusted to COVID-19 with people taking extra hygiene precautions and holding onto books for longer. However, please note, some have closed temporarily due to COVID-19.

There are more than 100 Street Libraries across the ACT. Find out more at the Street Library website: https://streetlibrary.org.au/

The (he)Art of the Community

Across Canberra, people are making art, craft and writing pieces to add colour, flair and messages of support for their communities. Thanks to ABC Canberra for keeping track of the Positive Post Its and for putting together this map where you can find small notes of support from your neighbours. Have you spotted any? Follow Positive Post Its on Facebook for more info.
