Dear District 5 Neighbors and Friends: Earlier this week our community experienced another two shootings, one of which injured a woman at an apartment complex in the 400 block of N. Los Robles Ave. The assailant is unknown, as is the motive at this time. The second shooting was a report of shots fired on N. Idaho St. No victims or witnesses but, officers did find a parked car with several bullet holes. Our police department and other city staff continue to address the ongoing issues there is significant increased enforcement with additional officers on the streets and in our neighborhoods. City staff is also ensuring our parks and community centers remain safe. Our office continues to communicate with neighbors everyday to answer questions and respond to concerns. We are working with city staff to implement short and longterm strategies to address the increased community violence. Our focus is and has always been to ensure a healthy quality of life in our District we will continue to work for the best Pasadena. It is to this end, that I hope you will join us on Saturday, February 28th for a community beautification effort at Madison Elementary School (flyer below). The Los Robles side of the campus (between the school fence and sidewalk) has struggled with landscaping and cleanliness. Frankly, many folks who walk throw their trash and litter into the ivy with little concern or respect for the students and neighborhood. We must to change this! On Saturday we will clean the area, remove the dead/dying ivy and install a new drought resistant landscape beautifying the area and making it easier to maintain. Joining in the effort are volunteers from the Pasadena Community Job Center we hope you will join us, as well! We will be cleaning and relandscaping the Los Robles Ave. parkway and side area of Madison Elementary School. Hot dog lunch will be provided by officers from the Pasadena Police Department. Wear closed toe shoes, bring your gloves and any gardening tools you may have. It's all hands on deck! Los Robles Ave. El agresor es desconocido, como es el motivo en este momento. El segundo tiroteo fue un informe de disparos en N. Idaho St. No hay víctimas o testigos pero, los oficiales encontraron un vehículo estacionado con varios impactos de bala. Nuestro departamento de policía y otros funcionarios de la ciudad siguen abordando las los problemas actuales hay oficiales adicionales en las calles y en nuestros vecindarios. El personal municipal esta enfocado de garantizar que nuestros parques y centros comunitarios siguen siendo seguros. Nuestra oficina sigue comunicándose con los vecinos todos los días para contestar preguntas y responder a las preocupaciones.
