China invaded Tibet in 1949. Since then, over one million Tibetans have died as a direct

result of China’s occupation. Today, the Chinese government continues to exploit Tibet’s

resource-rich land, while violently suppressing the Tibetan people’s basic human rights

and political freedom.

Tibetans have never given up, and with the support of allies, the movement for freedom

grows stronger. A new generation is embracing the power of non-violent resistance and

challenging China’s occupation in bold and innovative ways. As the largest international

grassroots organization in the Tibetan Freedom Movement, Students for a Free Tibet uses

education, grassroots organizing, and non-violent direct action to mobilize supporters

around the world for Tibet.

We know Tibet will be free and, together, we can work to turn this vision into reality.
