HSE initiatives and programs & Evidence of management involvements in HSE programs:• Set up an Environmental Management System and program compliant with

International best practices• Established and pursued a holistic Waste minimization measures and strategies

for prevention of pollution• Set up a system for controlling and monitoring efficient use of energy, reusing

and recycling wherever applicable• Ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental legislations, especially in

the area of pre-site deployment EIA Studies, EMP monitoring, periodic environmental regulatory monitoring and reporting, and supported Lagos State E-waste Monitoring and compliance programs

• Managed and delivered all Environmental Assessment studies in over 7322 sites from year 2011 to 2013 across the six geo-political zones of the country

• Also facilitated Environmental Auditing Projects in well over 12188 MTNN sites across the regions in line with the requirements of NESREA. The 1st compliance episode was achieved in 2010 with the 2nd compliance episode completed in 2014

the 1st Telco to ensure Site Environmental monitoring were carried out on yearly basis to meet minimum regulatory requirements.

• Upholding the sustainable development principle through good environmental management and keeping abreast of environmental developments in the country

• Ensuring sustainable operations through strategically defined procurement principles

• Coordinating efforts towards ISO 14001 certification• National Project Champion for Green Office Project, an MTN Group initiative

which addresses zero to high cost solutions to reduce MTN’s environmental impact in offices and associated operating expenses. We have so far facilitated eco-audit implementation road shows across the regions and coordinated eco-audit of all MTNN Critical facilities. • Under his helmsmanship, MTNN has the following Awards: Green Initiative Award – by Ecofest Nigeria in recognition of MTNN’s

contribution to Environment and Sustainable Development – Nov 2011 Award for Excellence for Environmental Sustainability – by Nigerian Society

External involvement in evolution of National HSE Regulatory standards and Frameworks:• Represented MTNN and participated as Team Lead for Sectoral Low carbon

opportunities in Telecommunication, Manufacturing, Power, Oil/Gas Carbon reduction session during the 2016 Federal Ministry of Environment (FMEnv) Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) Workshop which developed the framework to reduce overall carbon emission especially from fossil fuel as well as increase energy efficiency/renewable energy use, as part of UNFCCC 2007 Bali Action Plan which entrusted Country Parties to take Nationally Appropriate Mitigations Actions (NAMAS) in the context of sustainable development programs, supported and enabled by technology, financing and capacity building

• Represented MTNN and currently serving as a Working Group Member UNIDO/NESREA Electrical Electronic Equipment Stakeholders (EEE) Consultative initiative on implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Legislation for E-waste in Nigeria
