John’s Buffet opened in 1921 as an Ice Cream Parlor and Speakeasy on the site of the present Winfield

Village Hall. In 1947 Grandpa John moved the business to its present location in the Elsen Building.

The bar was one of the most modern in the Chicago Metropolitan Area, as it featured European beers on

draught and premium spirits in the art deco room. We want this Dining Room to continue in the spirit o

service and ambience you’ve come to expect from us!
