“And we know that for those who love God all things work together
for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. --Romans 8:28
Christ is Risen!
Peter had to face his
failure. He said would
never deny his Lord, but
he did so three times.
After the Resurrection,
Jesus confronted Peter.
Jesus’ confrontation of
him wasn’t about
shaming Peter, but
reclaiming him. Peter
had to face his failure, so
Jesus asked him if he
loved Him (and
reaffirmed Peter’s call to
ministry) three times.
Have you failed the
Lord? Don’t despair. He
can and will use you if
you will be open about
your failure and let Him
call you again to ministry
and service.

Congratulations First Communion Recipients
Congratulations to our Third Grade Parishioners who are receiving the Body and Blood of our Lord
in First Holy Communion this weekend and next.
Boys and girls, remember, you are very special to Jesus, and He is your Best Friend. Talk with
Jesus often, tell Him about your life. If you need Jesus’ help, don’t be afraid to ask. Jesus always
answers our prayers. Be sure and thank Him each time for all the wonderful ways He blesses you
and all of us, especially in Holy Communion. Please pray for your parents who love you so very
much. Again, congratulations! May the Lord bless you and your family.
Peace, Love, Joy,
Msgr. Larry Bronkiewicz

Love One Another as I have Loved You
In John 15:12, Jesus says, “This is my commandment, that you
love one another as I have loved you.” Loving and caring for one another is something Jesus has called us all to do. In Stephen Ministry, people with special gifts for caring put those gifts to use in an organized way, bringing Jesus’ love and care to those who need it most. If you know of someone who is hurting, talk to one of our Stephen Ministry Leaders, Mary Ann O’Grady – 203-438-5610 or Jack Hughes – 203-665-0054. Our Ministers are ready to provide focused, confidential, one-to-one Christian care—to help that person experience the healing power of Christ’s love.
SMS Annual Golf Scramble On Monday, May 20th Saint Mary School will be hosting our annual Golf Scramble. We invite all parishioners to join us in supporting and celebrating Catholic Education. FAITH FORMATION CORNER
TAKE JOY IN EVERYTHING!
Take joy in everything. If the brutal Crucifixion of Jesus, the Son of God, can turn out to be the greatest event in all of human history, then your personal suffering, any burden you carry, can be transformed into part of His Resurrection! This is the meaning of Easter! Easter means that nothing can keep us from the joy that God wants to give us. Nothing can steal that joy away. Sure, at times we will struggle just as Jesus did in the Agony of the Garden and the Via Dolorosa (the Way of the Cross), but those sufferings will not win. Jesus persevered and, in the end, rose victorious. This is Easter! Know that God wants you to experience the joy of Easter in your life. Let Him fill you with hope and with the joy that only the Resurrection can bring. God wants Easter to begin now in our lives! Happy Easter! www.mycatholiclife.com

The 100-plus men who currently attend our meetings share and receive perspective, insight and guidance for becoming better husbands, fathers, grandfathers, sons, workers and community members. Dear Friends in Christ, April 30, 2019
As you outgoing Pastor I am pleased to present my last third quarter Saint Mary Parish Financial
Report - for the period July 2018-March 2019.
As you know our weekly Mass offertory collections have been in steady decline and remain a cause for
concern. They have decreased over $3,700 per week on average from August 2018, representing a
15.8% decline or approximately $200,000 on a pro-rated annual basis. With our Parish Finance
Council I continue to work to address practical income and expense items to help alleviate some of the
offertory shortfalls.
While our Cash & Investments total $2.6 million, 62% ($1.6 million) is earmarked to fund our Gather &
Grow Project for the refurbishment of our Church and the addition of a “gathering/meeting space”.
These funds came primarily from the sale of our rental properties. Another 14% of our Cash &
Investments ($354,000) are restricted funds allocated for the perpetual care of our Parish Cemetery
and funds collected for our Ministries. The remaining “unrestricted” amount of $598,000 (24%) is
available to finance general Parish expenses and capital repairs. The “unrestricted” cash balance has
decreased steadily over the last eight months as a result of offertory declines and remains a significant
issue for our Parish going forward.
Other Items of Note: Revenues:
Total revenue was $2,138,000; however, $283,000 was generated from the sale of our rental
properties, and is a non-recurring item.
Offertory for the July 2018–March 2019 period was down to 89% of budget.
Net Income: While net income is a positive $234,000, it is based on the one time gain from the sale of rental
properties. Without this non-operational gain, net income would be a $34,000 loss for July
2018-March 2019 fiscal period.
Unrestricted “Free Cash”: Unrestricted cash reserve of $598,000 (net of accounts payable) provides approximately 2.7
months reserve for any major unplanned operational or facility issues.
I hope to schedule a State of the Parish meeting for all parishioners by the end of the Parish’s fiscal year
this June in order to explain in further detail the financial condition of our Parish.
As I prepare to conclude my service as your Pastor, I thank all of you for your continued financial
support of our wonderful Parish and for your continued prayers. May God bless us all during this
Easter Season.
Very sincerely in Christ Jesus
Msgr. Laurence R. Bronkiewicz, Pastor

Walk through the Liturgy with Bishop Barron and you’ll be transformed through insights on this most privileged and intimate encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ.
See how the Mass brings us out of the fallen world and into the heavenly realm, how it resonates with a call from God and a response from his people, the Church, and, most importantly, how we are intimately joined with the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus through the Holy Eucharist.
The Mass will help you understand how to fully, consciously, and actively participate in the source and summit of the Christian life.
