B IOGR APHY

John McGivern (born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an actor and writer. He has won numerous awards, including “Best Writer of a New Work” and the “After Dark Award”. He also played

the role of Bruce McIntosh in the Disney film The Princess Diaries, and many commercials for companies such as Kohl’s Department Store, Sears, and Philadelphia Cream Cheese. John is a graduate of St. Lawrence Seminary, in Mount Calvary, WI.

In 2010 he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence On Camera: Programming - Performer in the Chicago/Midwest region. McGivern is well-known for his Emmy® Award winning work on Wisconsin PBS. His one-man live stage and TV shows, “The Early Stories of John McGivern,”

“Midsummer Night McGivern,” “John McGivern’s Home for the Holidays,” and “Summer Stories with John McGivern” weave nostalgic tales of being the third born of six kids in a working-class Irish Catholic family in the Midwest.

McGivern frequently shows up on local morning news and other TV programs and can be heard during his regular radio segments on WKLH 96.5 FM in Milwaukee.

His newest venture, “Around the Corner with John McGivern” is a new Milwaukee Public Television series that takes McGivern to 13 different towns and neighborhoods around Southeastern Wisconsin. From Sheboygan to Racine and Burlington to Brady Street, McGivern capitalizes on his light-hearted demeanor to convey the delights he discovers while exploring these hometowns and neighborhoods.

For the John McGivern show this evening, the Oconomowoc Rotary will be the recipient of the Community Initiative Partner program. For every ticket sold, $2 will go back to the Rotary as a fund

raiser. The Rotary will have a table set up in the lobby this evening. Please stop by and learn more

about the club, their mission and community service projects they are involved in.
