• Couldn’t afford to support a wife

• Kept engagement a secret

• Last saw her in September 1820

• 1816 met with Richard Abbey

• Published in 1817

• Settled in Hampstead

Death• Died peacefully in bed

• Two year battle with Tuberculosis

• Died 1821, 26 years old
