- What is the message behind this topic?We should always wait on the Lord and not try to control Him. We should let him take control and trust that things will occur when He wills them to.

Water Into Wine

- What was the capacity of the jars?The jar were six stone or otherwise 6 jars holding 20-30 gallons each making a total of 120 – 180 gallons total.

- Why did he instruct for the jars to be filled with water?So, that there would be no doubt as to the miracle.

- Where did the water come from?The water came from the local well.

- How much of the wine might have been used in the wedding?More than 180 gallons

- What was the purification of the Jews? It was a custom for guests to have their feet washed before entering a house after having walked through dirt all day. A host would have a servant at the door to wash the feet of the guests. The jars were actually the water that would have been used for this tradition.

- Why was the best wine served first?The best wine was always served first as to impress the guests and the cheaper wine saved for later when they wouldn’t know any better.

- How does John refer to Gods miracle?John refers to this miracle as Jesus’ first miracle.

- What was the passover?The Passover was and is celebration of the deliverance of the Jewish people from Egyptian slavery.

- Why were they selling animals in the temple?They were selling animals because people needed the animals in order to offer sacrifices were diverse occasions.

- Why were there money changers?This was a service that was needed.

- Why was Jesus mad?Jesus was mad because he felt that they were disrespecting the temple.

- What temple was Jesus talking about when they asked him for a sign?Jesus was referring to himself as the “temple”.

- What was the message behind the text?
