Volume 4, Issue 10 JOHANNA & CCF SKAGIT VALLEY COLLEGE October 2014 School has started, students are here, and a new year in Campus Ministry has begun! A fresh start with students always helps me to get over my post-summer sadness, along with warm sweaters and all things pumpkin. I hope the fall is going well for you, too. Pictured above is one of our new interns for the year, Johanna Wuco. I met Johanna five years ago when I was an intern and she was a wee freshman in my small group. Here are some of her thoughts on that time and the impact CCF and I got to have on her life: As a freshman, I went to Western afraid that I would not be able to make any friends and thoroughly convinced that leaving my parents’ house would mean never stepping foot in a church again. It was highly fortunate for me that both of these thoughts would soon be swept aside by the people I would meet and grow to be friends with in my first year at Western. One such person was my friend and mentor, Johanna Vicklund, at the time an intern with Campus Christian Fellowship (CCF). Despite our initial disagreements on name pronunciation (the “h” is in between two vowels!), Johanna quickly became someone I considered to be one the truest friends I’d ever met. She showed me an unconditional sisterly love and friendship that I was unaccustomed to, proving to me that she was excited to get to know me just because I was me. She also helped me discover God in a much closer and more real way than I had ever known, even growing up in the church. Through her guidance, and the guidance of CCF as a whole, I not only fully dedicated my life to God, but also discovered a calling to work in children’s ministry that I otherwise would never have even considered. I can truly and honestly say I have no idea who I would be or how my experience at Western would have played out had that intern never entered my life. You never know what kind of an impact you might have on a person. Johanna’s is just one story of hundreds I’ve heard of student committing to the Lord through college ministry. I know there are more to come this year! 2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:2 [email protected] 206.920.7978 1400 Larrabee Bellingham WA 98225

School has started, students are here, and a new year in Campus Ministry has begun!

Here are some of her thoughts on that time and the impact CCF and I got to have on her life:

As a freshman, I went to Western afraid that I would not be able to make any friends and thoroughly convinced that

leaving my parents’ house would mean never stepping foot in a church again.

She also helped

me discover God in a much closer and more real way than I had ever known, even growing up in the church.

2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach

    others. 2 Timothy 2:2

    Meet the Interns…

    !!!!!

Johanna Wuco (page 1) is one of many CCF interns this year. Please pray for these men and women as they serve full time and give a year to learn what it means to be a campus missionary, disciple young students, embark on biblical and theological studies, reach out on the secular campus, lead spring break mission trips, manage the demands of pastoral ministry, grow in their personal walk with Christ and much, much more. We are so excited for this year with them! Pray for our staff as we serve, mentor, train, and challenge them!
