The Marmara Park Avenue, a 128-key artisanal boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan, is one of the latest projects by Joe Ginsberg Design. By seamlessly blending nature with the pulse of New York, we were able to achieve the client’s goal, which was to create a cosmopolitan oasis for the hotel.

From the intricate facets of the bronze entry door to the hand blown wine vessels, each custom detail within The Marmara Hotel weaves an intriguing tale. Bespoke applications and artisanal details have created a look exclusive to the Marmara brand. From the architectural components to the sculptural focal points, Ginsberg has amassed influences from the past and present to convey the essence of a timeless metropolis.

EXTERIORThe exterior of The Marmara Park Avenue is clad in black riveted iron, accented with silt cove sconces molded into the building’s façade. The main lobby is accessed through the blackened steel atrium featuring prismatic faceted glass and a tumbled paved walkway, bringing a sense of the outside in.

ENTRANCEThe hotel entrance is lit by a cast bronze hand blown glass pendant. A polished bronze diamond patterned door opens into the grand artisanal lobby, featuring a reclaimed parquet wood ceiling and seamless limestone walls.

CONCIERGEUpon arrival, the hotel guests are greeted by two sculptural limestone concierge desks and a majestic hand woven tapestry inspired by one of Joe Ginsberg’s works of art. A seamless poured concrete floor is punctuated by an inlaid brass king and queen pattern showcased throughout the lobby.

MAIN LOBBYA sculptural mirrored stainless steel fireplace takes center stage. A hand carved aviary abacus functions as a divider between the lobby and lounge. Custom furniture designed exclusively for the hotel is featured thoughout the lobby.

WEST LOBBYNeoclassical inspired sofas line the front wall in a refined yet relaxed aesthetic. A seamless limestone fireplace and hand-beaded linen drapes combine artisanal techniques with sophisticated grandeur. A stone water feature functions as an accent table, while a rich walnut library, directly across, provides a quiet escape.

WINE BARHand-blown vessels line the illuminated platinum glass walls of the wine bar, conveying a chic atmosphere as guests enjoy wine from Marmara’s own vineyard. A brass ribbon pendant hangs as an architectural halo emitting a glow over the walnut bar. Four jewel toned bathrooms are located just around the corner.

PRE-FUNCTION ROOMThe business center on the ground level features monochromatic lacquer panels, concealed storage, an organic wooden table, a geometric hide rug, and custom brass sliding doors. Antique mirrored ceilings create height and illusion throughout the passageways leading into stainless steel elevators, accented with in-laid wooden floors.

GUEST SUITE | LIVING ROOMSThe custom millwork throughout the guest rooms includes media units, wine bars, banquets and built-in dressers in a variety of sizes. A photograph of the third avenue bridge became an intricate wallpaper graphic to style the entry foyers. The customized room number signs are illuminated laser-cut steel. All interior fittings were carefully selected by the design team, including furnishings and lighting from our sister line, Tempo Luxury Home.

GUEST SUITE | BEDROOMSThe guest suite bedrooms create a New York City esscence with an artistic twist. The beds were designed exclusively for the hotel, with an upholstered base, velvet drawer inserts and attached custom side lamps. Joe Ginsberg’s fine art and photography is featured throughout the guest rooms.

High-end plumbing accessories and custom fixtures were specified in a polished nickel finish, a style that will withstand time. Glass front Italian kitchens, seamless Calcutta gold marble, and a unique stone fireplace, combined with sweeping city views make the penthouses at The Marmara Park Avenue a heavenly place to be.

The other embodies Parisian style with its french blue glazed subway tile, an iredescent mosaic and powder-concrete geometric floors.

PENTHOUSE SUITE | BEDROOMSEach bedroom within the Penthouse suite features lavish furnishings and wall to wall carpeting. The master bedroom, taking center stage with silk carpeting, contemporary art and horn base table lamps on either side of the bed. One guest bed features custom milwork encasements, while the other takes a modern approach by hosting a japanese style low profile bed and a seating area with a built in book case and disguised television.

POOLA Mediterranean style wellness center invites guests to retreat to a sub ground sanctuary featuring distinctive finishes such as a vaulted teak ceiling. An antique, two-way mirrored glass separates the fitness facility from the adjoining pool area, whose floor consists of iridescent mosaic tile, inspired by one of Joe Ginsberg’s photographs.
