JobScout Helps Libraries
jobscoutDigital Literacy Skills for Today’s Library Patron
TestimonialsWe thought this was an important service to the public. Having a population that works is very important to this county. We have a lot of patrons, but some might not know how to use the Internet. With JobScout, we can fill a gap here.
Elizabeth Gray, Assistant County Librarian,
Yolo County
One of the main advantages of JobScout is that it requires very little staff time because our patrons can guide themselves through the process.... JobScout is easy to use, entertaining and clears up common misunderstandings about the Internet... We want to help people, but our resources are stretched thin, so JobScout provides us a badly needed service.
Connie Barrington, County Librarian, Imperial
County Library

INCREASE access to content through the innovative use of technology
USE metrics to evaluate the success of their programs
Boomers are facing the inevitability of having to stay in the job market past the age of 65. JobScout teaches them necessary skills to stay relevant in the workplace.
The modern library serves as the community’s information hub. JobScout ensures that community members can access relevant online information.
Libraries need to measure the effectiveness of their programs and the activities of their users so that they can best drive programming decisions.
Millennials face a 25% unemployment rate. JobScout gives them the tools to find employment now.
Libraries must enhance the ability of their patrons to find, evaluate, create and communicate information.
If you can’t measure it, you can’t fund it. Philanthropic and even federal funders want to see quantified results, which JobScout provides.
1 in 5 Americans still does not know how to use the Internet. JobScout teaches them how.
JobScout provides 24/7 services, thus engaging patrons any time of the day.
JobScout measures library use and impact beyond its physical location.

JobScout empowers today’s library patrons with the basic digital literacy skills that they need to find information, get back to work and stay connected to family and friends. JobScout helps your library system fulfill its modern mission by providing patrons a tool for digital literacy learning and the 21st century job search process, while equipping the library with the data to track individual users and measure overall program effectiveness.

Our StoryJobScout began as a project of the California State Library. Librarians were overwhelmed by the number of people coming into their branches to look for jobs using the public computers, but did not know how to use the Internet. JobScout was originally created as a solution to this problem and is now in over 900 libraries around the US helping get library patrons connected to the 21st century world.
COMPASS Data Analytics
for Libraries
JobScout’s COMPASS data analytics system allows library systems to track the progress and usage of JobScouters within their organization. With their own private dashboard, library systems can track metrics such as:
✓ Number of users linked to your organization
✓ Lessons taken
✓ Badges earned
✓ Number of jobs searched
✓ Number of resumes submitted
✓ Number of jobs applied to
✓ Number of interviews that have been scheduled.
This data is collected based on application log ins, so customers can track users whether they are using a computer directly from the library or from the JobScout mobile application.
Beyond data analytics, we a l s o offe r w h i te - l a b e l products that co-brand with your library with your own d o m a i n a n d p r e m i u m services where we create custom lessons for your community’s unique needs.
