Transcript of JMS PowerPoint for our Epals
Where we live…• Our housing is made up of different types of buildings
and different heights. Some of us live in houses, condos or apartments.
• Most houses in Elmwood Park are called Bungalows and are fairly close to each other.
• They look like the pictures below.
Here is a snapshot taken from Google Earth. Our houses are arranged on streets and are fairly close
to each other.
We attend John Mills School. Here is the top view of our school in Google Earth.
And below is the front of our school.
More about John Mills School• We have over 700 students. • Our school is only grades 1st through 6th.• For each grade level, there are 4 to 5 classes with
around 28 students in each class. • Students attend school from 8:40 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on
Monday through Friday. • We study Math, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Science
and Social Studies. • Students also get to attend a “special” class each week
in Art, Music, P.E. (Gym) and a Technology class. • We also have several before and after school clubs and
activities like Choir, a technology advancement class, Spanish club, Student Council, Yearbook and more.
• In late May, we get out for summer break and return in the middle of August.
Our Technology Class• Technology plays a big part of our learning process. • Every week, we see our technology teacher Mrs. Berkery for
a 40 minute technology class where we work on our computer skills and work on cool projects. She is also the one that talked to your teachers so we could become epals.
• We also have another lab of computers where are homeroom teachers can take us and then laptops available to our classrooms.
• Here are some pictures of Mrs. Berkery’s classroom.
Stay tuned!
We will be sending pictures of the inside of our school and videos during the school
year. In a couple weeks, we will be sending you a picture of each of us so you
can see what we look like.
Talk to you soon!
Your friends at John Mills School!
