Step-by-Step Installation Procedure

4 Step 1: Go to : http://iphome.hhi.de/suehring/tml/download/

5 Step 2: From the list, download jm18.5.zip and extract the contents

into a folder.

6NOTE: The software package contains a Visual Studio .NET workspace named “jm_vc7.sln” for .NET 2003 (v7), a workspace named “jm_vc8.sln” for .NET 2005 (v8), and a workspace named “jm_vc9.sln”for .NET 2008 (v9). The user should select the appropriate solution according to his/her .NET package.

7 Step 3: These workspaces include the following 4 projects: lencod,

ldecod, rtpdump and rtp_loss.

8Step 4: Select the desired project and the appropriate compilation mode, i.e. “Debug” or “Release”. Compilation will create the binaries “lencod.exe” or “ldecod.exe” in the “bin” directory. “rtpdump.exe” and “rtp_loss.exe” will be created in the rtpdump and rtp_loss directories respectively

Using the JM Encoder Module

11• In the bin directory, we have the encoder configuration files and the

input video sequences.

12• Parameters can be configured in the encoder configuration file. Let us check

the encoder_main.cfg file first.

13• Next, we need to execute the lencode.exe file to encode our video

sequence. To go to command prompt:Go to start Type cmd Press Enter. A window shows up.

• Change the directory to the location where the configuration files are stored.Example: cd:\\users\sodhanipranav\desktop\JM\binType: lencod.exe –d encoder_main.cfg to encode the video sequence.

We have successfully encoded our first video sequence using H.264 video codec !
